So I downloaded the demo off EA.com, installed it, and went in to play it :D
First thing I noticed was that I had no sound, So I played a music vid on youtube to make sure my headset was working, it was. I restarted the demo.
I also noticed that it told me to press "start" to enter the demo, it also had the option for aim assist.....
BUT THE MAIN PROBLEM is the servers themselves, on almost all of them I could not connect to the host. When I could get into a pre-game lobby, the game would not start, even with 12 players in it.
I could only find one north america server *used filters* so in all the servers I went in I had anywhere from 150 to 200 ping. I COULD NOT SHOOT ANYBODY!!!
If there was one thing that was good was that the game ran surprisingly good, I ran it at 1280x720 with gamer settings, there are no individual settings for specific video effects, only 3 presets.
I have reinstalled the demo twice now, problems were not fixed.
Game looks great, servers suck. it seems like a bad port from console to PC to me.

If anybody knows how to fix any of these problems please tell me !!!

You forgot to mention that the demo assumes that we play on a TV. Hell no to that, I play on my monitor..Console port to the max.

Crytek, I am disappoint.

I DLed the demo from the Nvidia site last night, installed and was able to jump in a server immediately.

A lot of the servers showed "0" ping and I didn't try to join those but I picked a server with 109 ping and was able to get in right away.

Movement feels slow, especially since we're in this awesome suit.. I found myself sprinting a lot just so it didn't feel like i was crawling. Also, the FOV was WAY to small. The gameplay was decent, not bad, not awesome but that's pretty much what I was expecting. Ironically, the game ran really well on my low end gaming rig.

The first Crysis was an awesome SP game but MP was terrible, mainly because the suit was so imbalanced. Seems like Crytek addressed the balance issues but lets hope they support the dev console so we can tweak stuff.

Here's something else to add on to this snowball:

If you’ve having trouble playing the Crysis 2 demo released today, you’re not alone. Their login servers are overloaded, which is preventing valid usernames being recognised and new accounts being created. Crytek community manager Tom Ebsworth says on Twitter that: “we’re aware of the issues… it’s an on-going process, no ETA on a complete fix right now.” The problem affects the official MyCrysis site too, but seems to be GameSpy related – “we are working with gamespy to resolve this,” says Ebsworth.

Laaame.

I downloaded the demo & tried for almost an hour to connect to a server. I just deleted the demo. It's a shame, I loved the other Crysis games.

I agree with everyone in this thread (same problems here).
First thing I thought when I launched the demo was, 'this looks like a bad port.'
Servers were a mess - horribly unoptimized process, but this is something they can definably work on leading up to official release.

but

this is only a demo (not a good demo to be sure). They still have time to polish things before release.

What this demo means to me: Crysis is no longer a Day 1 purchase. Now I will wait for the reviews to come out, and I'll wait for the 'supposed' after-launch patch for PC that has already been announced.

If this is just another multi-player focused console port on-line shooter, with a single-player experience tacked on as more of an extended tutorial, than I'll pass on this.

This would not surprise me. It seems like most shooters today are going the same route as Call of Duty. we'll just have to wait and see when it's released.

Also I am pretty sure the multiplayer graphics wont be as detailed and polished as single player to help ease lag and servers. Atleast it shows off the gameplay and some version of the graphics. So far it has been pretty fun and I hope the main game is more a long the lines of a PC game like Crytek says it will be and not a port which is what the rumor mill says.

Crytek has said the game will be a PC game and not a port over from the console. The demo was ported over from the console to save time and just give people a test. I can see that as a way to save time and get something out to the masses while they can focus on the finishing up the game as a whole.

I think most of the people are overreacting and freaking over out over nothing.

Yep. Feels like it's locked on 55 fov, it feels horrible. If you try and hack it to go above that, you can tell it's not made for it. There is no advanced options for graphics settings, they're all presets. Small number of players, huge hud/gun. 60$.

No thanks.

Why couldn't it have been ported from PC to console, and just lower down the graphics?

I played it for 5 minutes then uninstalled. No way am I buying this. Crysis was one of the most advanced and one of the most popular PC games (gameplay was awful, benchmarking was fun though). So it's disappointing, but not a bit surprising.

From every "new" game I've seen released so far, it must be easier or cheaper to port from console to PC (even though the game is originally created on PC :facewall:)

I don't have a list of games, but I do know Homefront will have its own versions for console and PC (no ports here :w00t:).

The xBox version wasn't bad.
The PC version was meh. All I've seen was the multiplayer though and while it was fun, I doubt I'll pick up the full game on release date.

Maybe when it's $30-$20.
