Yeah, haven't been very active lately primarily due to this. I tried posting on the Steam forums about this, but for some reason I'm disabled on there, and their search feature works about as well as an airplane made out of rocks. Anyway.
For the past... several months, in fact, whenever I play a game that is launched from Steam? It'll start up normally, everything works fine for the most part, but every few minutes, like every 3-6 minutes, I'll get a massive frame rate slowdown to about 1-2 FPS for maybe 5 to 10 seconds, then it'll smooth back out. Now, obviously I don't need to go into detail about how annoying and game breaking this is for anything that isn't played in single player. This is effecting any and all games attached to Steam, from CS:S and TF2, to Magicka or any much older games I own on it.
I would also like to add that this is NOT a hardware issue, nor a problem with my computer itself. I have also fully defragged my steam drive, virus checked, and everything. I had changed nothing in my machine around the time this problem began, and every game on Steam ran fine and perfectly smooth while at max settings as well. Having minimized one of my games as the lag began happening, every time, I'll see that Steam is suddenly jumping to 50-90% CPU usage, thus lagging the entire game up. I've disabled the overlay UI as well, this didn't solve my problem, and just reinstalled the entire thing yesterday. Reinstalling helped for about 30 minutes, then the lagging began again. I don't know what else to do at this point.
As I've said, I can't get anything from the Steam forums, so I was hoping somebody here might know how to fix this issue so I can get back to actually playing with my clan again.
If anyone has any suggestions, let me know, I really could use some help with this.
