Steam "Anti-hack" addition to client

Why not just make a mobile authenticator app for android etc.
That works pretty well for blizzard (battle.net authenticator)

Seems to be a bit much for account security, but its probably the best way to counter account phishing

This type of security is becoming very common, especially for "financial" institutions.

For example, my bank has this same set up. The only "thing" that can login to my account is my home computer, my work computer and my android phone.

Is it fool proof? Of course not, nothing is. But it is much better than "just' a password by itself.

I use multiple PCs so I won't be using this, I'm not fail enough to get hacked lol.

Once you've logged onto that computer you can have steam guard remember that computer so it isn't a huge deal just annoying at first.

The whole point is that if someone new tries to log on you are notified via email and then can change your password.

would be nice if they offer authenticator like Blizzard and google does with Android devices and Iphones

At least the beta fixes the error of Steam not unloading itself from memory when you close it.

Im glad they added this. I was so sick of hearing "My account was hacked" No it wasn't it was phished you gave them the password, they didn't just hack your computer. But Im sure they'll find a way to get the key that's required if its not on the master computer... sigh people out there that give their passwords to others deserve to loose their accounts.

Be Smart, be safe. Not a hard concept to understand...

Now people will atleast avoid getting hacked for clicking stupid links where they have to login to a phishing website. Unless you give them your E-Mail.. :P
