Ok, so i recently got a job paying good money and i want to build a rig. I have one that Ive built. I'm selling it to a friend for 250.


Here are the parts that im wanting to get and possibly will get soon.
If there is anyone who could suggest anything or other parts that would be better. I wanna go AMD Based and run crossfire X.

I like the build. Some quality choices you have picked out. Personally, I would like to see ddr3 1600 in this build cas 8. Also, 750w should be plenty and would save you about $30 going with the dominant seasonic 80 plus gold:

Also, are you planning to do 2 x 6850 right off the bat? If that is the case, I myself would just go with a single 6950 for now and add another one later down the road. If you are only doing one 6850 for now, than I like your choice a lot.

Also, might want to look into a decent cooler to get some more performance out of that cpu though you could always add that later as well.

Finally, I would get a mobo that has usb 3.0 and sata 6gb/s as it is standard on almost all the boards now. Nice to have for future use.

Thanks. (: I might go with the 750w. And no I'm not going with 2 at the moment. I will later on. But i wasn't really sure if a 750w would be enough. I have a 750w corsair but its in the computer that I'm selling. Also about the processor im getting it from a friend and and a cooler for 100bucks. So i wont be buying it from newegg.

Broski, if I were you and I was putting the effort and time into my PC, like you look like you're about to -- I wouldn't do the quad-core Phenom. Not because it's bad, but because you're not putting into the system what you'll be getting out of it, with all of your other components, lol.

I'd go for a low-end i7 Processor if anything, or if you want to swing dropping another 100-150 $, get a higher end model. You wont be disappointed, I don't believe.
 
I don't know what that guy is talking about. The 955 is a solid chip and you've got a good motherboard to go with it. I would recommend some kind of aftermarket cooling simply because stock cooling sucks. Even if you don't want to overclock a lot (which you can with a BE 955 and that board), lower idle temps are always welcome.

It's $25 less but just as good.

As for wattage. Crossfiring 6850s with a 955 won't need more than 650W PSU. I know calculators will say that's a lie, but they either want you to buy a more expensive PSU or expect you to buy a crappy one that can't handle it's rated wattage anyways. Going for lower wattage also means you'll get better features like quality or modularity.
 
Ive decided to change HDD, and PSU. And I'm adding more ram as in buying 2 of the 2x4gb sticks. Also im getting a zalman cooler or Cooler Master V8 or unless someone can recommend one (:

8GB of ram at least has some use, but 16GB is complete overkill, unless you do some serious photoshop work, or video rendering.

The AX850 is a great PSU and all, but is total overkill for this build. Even if you wanted to get a second 6850 in the future, 650W would be more than enough.

The Antec TruePower new 650w would be great for your needs. It is loosely based off the Seasonic S12II, and is partially modular.

The only other nit-pick i can think of, I absolutely hate the 902/900. It has poor airflow, and virtually no cable management options, but if you like the look, it is your choice.
 
There's a new case that just came out called the Fractal Design Define R3 (Black or titanium gray) Read some of the reviews on the internet here. I've never actually owned one of their cases, but the reviews rave about them, and everyone over at other gaming/overclocking forums are absolutely in love with this case and all the features it brings about. You really should check into that. It's the same price as the 902 as well.

I also agree with not liking the 900/902. The airflow is fine, but the cases are far from good. The window is neat if you're into that, but personally, I'm moving away from that whole "Look my computer, my computer's amazing!" thing. I just want something that's easy to work on and quiet. The Fractal Design Define R3 fits that criterion with ease.

I'll vote for getting the Seasonic X750 too if you've got the money. It is the proverbial king of 750-watt power supplies. Also, 8GB of memory is enough. Very futureproof and cheap.

As far as a Phenom II 955, it's not weak by any means, but it is no longer the king of value range performance chips. That belongs to the lower end Sandy Bridge i5 chips. Unfortunately, their motherboards are still out of the market, so unless you're willing to wait, the 955 is one of the better options at this moment.
 
They've just been put on Newegg. That doesn't make them new. :P
But I would definitely go with an R3 over a 900/2. Those cases... *shudder*

Seasonic's X series is the best of the best of the best. Of the best. The best.
I would highly recommend one.

The 955 is a fine chip, but if it's at all possible, try and go with the i5 2500/k.

If you're thinking about the Antec 1200, which is full size, consider this instead:

NZXT Phantom - Black

It's also a full size case, but it's quieter and it looks sleeker. Plus, the Phantom has many features that the 1200 just doesn't have (5-channel fan controller, quiet operation, use for longer video cards, sleeker design, lower price)

My fiance has the Phantom (white) and it's an absolutely incredible case. Couldn't ask for any more from a full tower. :)

AMD is fun. Sandy bridge is a snore fest....boring-est chip i have ever owned....

I want one, but purely for the performance. Overclocking one of those would be boorrriiinggg..

I agree. It's kind of sad Intel ended up taking this approach, but when I think about the performance it offers, I'm more than willing to forgive it.

The phantom is a fantastic case. Read some reviews. It's won a stupid amount of awards from various sites. There's a reason for that. It's a very well designed case. Even if you don't like the looks, you can't deny that its functionality is superb.

To each their own I guess.

I feel the same way about my 965BE. I've been fine tuning it for a year to determine stability @ 3.9Ghz, and for SB chips, you flick up the multi, and increase the voltage a little. What's the fun in that? I overclock because it's a blast to see just how much performance I can get out of a chip before I push it too far. What's the fun if overclocking is easy?

how did you get your CPU that high, do you use cooling or stock fans and air?!! I have a 2600k and i want to do that, I have a NZXT phantom case with all but 2 fans in there.

That was on air. Bench stable to. I did some 3dm01 runs at that speed, as well as 3dm03.

That was using a full 54x multi.

I had a "golden" chip, so it is likely that yours might not get that high.
