Oh man it's because the age check verification drop down box is so annoying when I want to see the game on steam. I always just dropdown the year and leave it on January 1st

I used to do that until..
I think, this is personal..
But, I always thought that if you don't change the date or put a ridiculous date, it lowers the bandwith you get from them, making the video slower.
Because when I put my real birthday, the video buffers completely in less then 5 seconds and when I put a phony or don't change it, it takes like, 2 mins.
I just might be...Silly, though. :chair:

LOL when i was 11 i couldnt use a computer at all... i barely knew what the things were. i probably didnt play video games til i was 12 or 13... and im not even old now

Steam's legal department.
games are rated, They must at least try, if you lie about your age, its not their fault, in the eyes of the law...

That's good then. Unfortunately their are those kids that have things really influence them negatively. Like when I hear someone on our servers that can't possibly be over 12 years old swearing up a storm, it really gets to me.

technically, the owner of the content cannot be held responsible for it if he warns about it or ask for age (even though, as previously established, everybody lies), just like the ESRB filters.
Basically you can understand the age verification as:
"Im gonna upload some porn, and I dont want a lawsuit on my ass so Im gonna ask for age and if the user lies about it to watch the content, then its his/her responsibility, period".

I do say that i was born that day, just to avoid putting the exact damn date...
anyways, u can lie however u want, the age spec its just only to avoid legal problems with annoying parents that claim that Steam is showing their little innocent kids content not recommended for their freaking pure and fluffy minds.
