Mic Problem

I bought a mic few months ago and it worked great for a while until now. For some reason it barely picks up sound anymore even with the volume turned all the way up. I've tried messing with the settings ingame on STEAM but nothing makes it any better. Anyone have any idea what I can do to make it work again?

like i always say - make sure it is working the way you want in windows (you can test with voice recorder) before even trying steam.

I'm not being insulting - its confeusing and its happened even to me. But you want to make sure double sure that when you change the "volum" of the mic your changing the RECORDING volume, not the playback volume otherwise your not doing anything.

Also, you can look for setting such as mic boost in the advanced sound settings in the sound manager, and always look for silly things such as on mic volume knobs, on computer knobs (like sound card with front panels) and that the plug is secure in the pink socket.

I just brought up the windows sound option, clicked on the recording tab and for some reason my mic volume was almost all the way down. Easy fix.
