Since Hotz the jailbreaking guy is being sued by sony for jailbreaking the PS3 who do you hope wins?

Personally I hope Sony wins because any jailbreaking attempts drives prices of games up and makes DMCA rules stricter and hurts gamers in the long run. Kid needs to be punished.

I'm on Geohot's side. If he wins, this may lead the way for future modders/hackers to have rights on customizing THEIR own console that THEY bought.

If you jailbreak something and get caught, well it's too bad.

so what is the morale of this event?

NEVER GET CAUGHT. :P

Well ps3 is getting attacked by anonymous. So ..., ps3 will win the suit or they will stop it because that anonymous is owning ps3.

People still hating on the modder, yet still haven't provided proof that game price is directly related to jailbreaking.

Hotz never agreed to the SCEA terms of service, so technically he is in the clear. But all the hacking that appeared on the PS3 like a week after really ticked me off.

Everybody looks like an idiot right now.
Sony could have hired him, release a basic modding tool, let unix be supported fully again. Great press, possibly more sales.
Hotz should have been more careful with the possibility of hacking and pirating. Also, his recent legal arguments have been silly. "I never knew SCEA ever existed, I thought these copyright laws only applied if you live in Japan."
Anon's actions are just criminal and stupid. "You attempt to "silence" our "freedom" so then we will find personal information of Sony execs, family and friends and blackmail Sony."

Actually what I found out was they arent suing him for modding his PS3. I agree we should be allowed to do that but what he got in trouble for was releasing the PS3 security keys which are the property of Sony according to their EULA. Pretty stupid on Hotz and he should have known better.
