I just returned home after seeing Insidious in theaters and I thought I would give my opinion on the flick.
The first thing I would like to say about this movie is that it is the first horror film since Drag Me to Hell that actually left me satisfied.
I found that the beginning half of the film was rather dull and the only time I reacted to the film with a sense of horror was due to the many, many teenage girls shrieking at almost any opportunity they could find. However about half way through the movie the utter eeriness of the film started to get to me.
The one thing that saved this movie in my eyes was the editing. The film used several quick cut techniques that really built up the value of the shock horror. This along with the chaotic; eerie music combined to create an atmosphere that kept me on the edge of my seat.
This film really does nothing new and its not a particularly good piece of cinema. But I feel as though it did it's job quite well. It provides some very good cheeky shock horror moments.
If you are a fan of horror movies like I am and you are looking for a halfway decent thrill I would recommend that you see Insidious.
