URGENT HELP NEEDED!

I got the card and wires.
I inserted the card into its slot and it made that snap sound. I got the Wires and I plugged the side with 6 slots into the Card. I looked for 2 PC four pin slots to plug it into, but only found one. I tried it with just the one plugged in and my PC would not start. The wires are
Four Pin Molex Hard Drive to Six Pin PCIExpress Adapter.
Please instruct me on how to install it since I'm such a idoit and please help!

The card is a BFG GeForce Nvidia 8800 and my power supply can put out 300V

(The thing I plugged the four pin adapter into was on the wires coming from Power supply and it also connected to what seemed to be my fan, Disc Drive, and Harddrive.)
I use a EMachines.
 
I'm not entirely sure of what your problem is, but from what I can gather you should try and look for an adapter that came with the card, this should be able to like make another socket for your card if there is one :)

BTW, you have posted this in the wrong section, next time post it in the Tech Help forum :P
 
Ah well I'm sorry but I can't really help you out here, I need to see it ):

i made that a while ago. I did get one thing wrong though, on the molex connectors (4pin), replace Male with Female, and viceversa. So it should read "4 pin connector (male)" where it says "4 pin connector (female)", and vice versa
 
That BEAUTIFUL diagram reflex made is what you need to do. The only problem I see is that there is either a short in the molex adapters, or your power supply isn't supplying enough power. Just because its says 300w (which is very low), doesn't mean that it will put out that much. Also, depending on the model of 8800, you may need more power. A friend of mine bought a 500w power supply because his 350w didn't put out enough power to his card. That was years ago, but it still applies.
 
The card was connected successfully and the PC did not turn on, It could be 1 of 2 Things. Either the card does not work or my Power supply is to small. So I may just have to wait untilk I get a larger power supply. Thanks for your help guys.
 
If even the CPU fan wouldn't turn on, then it's the PSU. If you just didn't get a display signal, then it could be the GPU (or motherboard PCI-E slot).

What GPU is it exactly? 8800GT? GTS? GTX? If it's the GTX, you definitely do not have enough power. My old 8800GTX was a huge power hog.

Edit: Never mind, saw your other thread. Depending on the PSU, I really doubt you would have enough amps on your 12V line for even a 8800GT.

I agree, but knowing eBay, and sellers history of dumping hardware that acts a bit flaky at times,
I would definitely find a friend who is willing to let you plug that card in before buying a PSU for that card.

The truth is, before you can do any gaming with any kind of video card with any real muscle, you are going to have to buy a larger PSU.
Depending on what size your cpu is and other factors, you can probably pick up a decent one at newegg for $30 after rebate, (Corsair 500 watt one is on sale right now)
Here is a few, that I found last night. The cheapest one would be a HUGE upgrade over what you have now.

You would hate to go buy a PSU for that card and then realize that the problem was in the card itself and not the PSU.

Alright thanks, I'll see if I could get one off of NewEgg, If not I'll just get one off of the EMachine website.
 
I googled the specs on that card its max power usage is 176w, if your only running a 300w supply you probably arent getting enough power to it.
