Before I begin, I'd like to point out that most of you may not know me. I'm an old timer :3. That's alright, that's not why I'm here.
As you know by now, I go by Zopy, and I was a former member of this fine clan. Since then, I have moved on, but I feel as though I have never really gotten to say thanks for everything that the people here do.
I joined Edge Gamers in early 2008. I want to say it was January, but I'm not entirely sure. Back then, there were like five servers total, a far cry from where we are today. I was recruited into the clan by a player called "Zapper" while playing on the Team Fortress 2 Dustbowl server. It was casual, he just asked if I wanted to join the clan. I had been interested prior, I will admit, but he gave me the extra push to sign up. Eagerly, I came to the forums, and applied. Within an hour or two, I was Edge Gamers newest member. =(e)= Zopy.
Now, I've never been big into organized gaming. Clans and guilds aren't really my thing. However, something attracted me to Edge Gamers that other servers didn't offer. It was one of the premises the group was founded on: Mature Gaming. Prior to my time in eGO, I often saw griefers and brats ruining the game for me and my fellow players. I never had that problem in an eGO. Everytime I booted up a game and got on an Edge Gamers server, it was good clean fun.
Time went on, and I got a promotion to =(eG)=. This was huge. I could now take a frontline stance against those who made the game worse for others. Throughout this time, I had participated in many events. From staying home on Valentines Day 2008 to play with my buddies in a TF2 event, to rebelling against the Counter Terrorists in the Counter Strike Jailbreak Servers.
Unfortunately, as time went on, I started High School, and academics took a front seat to fun. The time I spent gaming slowly decreased, while the time I spent studying and playing sports increased. I decided to forfeit my admin rights and part from the great clan I had called home for so long. However, you can take Zopy out of the clan, but you can't take the clan out of Zopy.
To this day, I still remain in contact with many friends I made in eGO. They are some of my wholeheartedly best friends, and I wouldn't imagine not knowing them.
So I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has been, is, and will be a part of Edge Gamers. There are many people who toil endlessly behind the scenes in order to make this run smoothly, keep the site up, organize events, train admins, and keep the servers clean. They are doing this for no pay, and only get the satisfaction of keeping mature servers up and running.
This clan taught me a lot about myself, now that I look back on it. It taught me how to be more mature. It taught me that I'm not the only one on the server, and other people are trying to have fun, just like me. Edge Gamers, simply put, taught me how to have a great time in a respectful manner. To this day, some of the lessons I've learned have carried over, and still apply to my daily life.
