Yes, it's real and this past week, it came back to it's original home of Louisburg, North Carolina - The town where I live! It actually takes places at the college I attend and while it may seem peculiar to you, the reader, for some people, it's an ultimate form of musical expression. I volunteered through out the week and I met people from all different walks of life.

I made friends with the Aljazeera One reporter as seen in this video and he did his best to capture the whistlers convention for what it is. The building it takes place in is actually the auditorium where all my Band Concerts took place and it's also the place where I graduated High School from! It's pretty random.
I made friends with the International Grand Champion and the 2nd runner up and we had fun making shenanigans on the stage after the competition finally ended yesterday on Saturday. At the closing dinner, Caren Irgang (1st place International Grand Champion) and Yuki Takeda (2nd place) and I whistled My Favorite Things in front of all or most of the whistlers and I sang the chorus. It was nerve racking!
In closing, I am expected to compete in the 2013 International Whistler's Convention and over all, this is what I think of myself and all whistler's alike:
