How's this look for a ground up build?

Didn't quite max out your $3,000 budget, but this is still a pretty kick ass build. It can easily handle anything you can throw at it, and it will probably (no guarantees) run BF3 maxed at 1200p no problem.

Again, I went with some luxury items, such as the 128GB Sata III SSD, and the GOLD rated PSU. I can make changes to the build if you want. If you want some recommendations on monitor(s) and other peripherals (minus mice. That's so subjective it isn't even funny), let me know.

Yuck. Would you mind explaining why you would rather have that case? The case I picked out has superior air flow, which is very important for dual 570s, even though they have aftermarket coolers.
 
The case you suggested has great airflow as well comparable to the ravens. It is your computer, do what you want. Case is always personal preference, and since the one you want is just as good as the raven airflow wise, get it.

The Antec actually does better.

However, I would get TWO 6970s or TWO 580s over the two TWO 570s. Also, for this expensive of a computer, ddr3 1600 ram is the minimum I would get. The power supply is good, but it leaves you no room to really upgrade. I would go ahead and plan for the future where I could reuse the power supply no problem:

Actually, if you're going to be pushing the power envelope, I wouldn't suggest the AX1200. Single rail with that much power going through it isn't safe at full load.

And 850W is plenty for the build, and leaves room for upgrade. Which I'm not even sure of anything you would need to upgrade.

I mean, it is a fine PSU, but if you are running it at high load a single rail can be dangerous, as OCP and OVP and all the other protections take much longer to respond if something were to go wrong.


Don't get me wrong, the AX1200 is a great PSU, but the single rail design, is kinda dangerous

For non-PSU guys, that's Over Current Protection and Over Voltage Protection. When you have high loads, you need both to respond quick so you don't fry your PSU.

What reflex said. I mean, I would only suggest it if you were going to use maybe 750W at the most, but then it would be a waste. They should have gone with multirail.
