Laptop Selection Help

Hi,

A good friend of mine asked me to help her pick out a laptop for her personal use.

Her needs are ... different... (see point 2 below) than what I'm used to, so I need a bit of help.

Requirements:

1) <$1,000.
2) Most taxing program she'll run is Photoshop. No gaming, whatsoever. She needs Photoshop to run as smoothly as a baby's butt.
3) 15.6" screen. Can bear with 14" too, if necessary.
4) Brand must be something reasonably reputable.
5) No Dell.

Please use Tiger Direct Canada or Newegg Canada. Can be other retailers in Canada too, if you have a good alternative..

Well it depends on what she is doing in photoshop... It can be more taxing on the system then games if she starts to really get into it.

Consider an Asus laptop. This one has a plenty of power and a discrete graphics card (Photoshop can use a graphics card for rendering which increases speed).

i7 processor in it so it will be able to handle photoshop with ease.
15.4' screen, nothing massive
Decent integrated graphics
HP is a solid name
4 gigs of DDR3
and a 500gb hard drive

Decent price too, I sell these a lot where I work and I would recommend one.

Should be easy to find on other websites, I just used frys because I work there lol.

Photoshop uses the same resources a graphics intensive game would use.
Especially if she's a power user. If she's just editing a single picture at a time, pretty much any new laptop with a dual core will work.
