After the recent Valve update was installed I started to have a problem. The player model looks cartoonish at certain points on the map. Specifically when the player is out in the open ( player models look normal while in buildings or shadows ).

Is anyone else having this problem?

It's frustrating trying to play like this :(. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Below is my older video card specs.

------------
Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
Total available graphics memory 1023 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 256 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 767 MB
Display adapter driver version 8.17.12.5896
Primary monitor resolution 1920x1080
DirectX version DirectX 9.0 or better

Not to that extent, but I do get shiny helmets and stuff now, as if the sunlight is 'reflecting' off the edges.

Mine is not that bad. But when guys are out in the open (sunlight) they have a white tint to them along with a shiny white helmet. When they go inside a building tho they resort back to normal. Ill get a screen shot next time I'm in game.

Okay well thanks for the input fellas. I guess we will just have to wait until Someone, SOMEwhere does SOMEthing about it.

:)

We just got in that new shipment of Mirror helmets. Sorry, we'll re-distribute the old helmets when we get around to it

Anyone else noticed when you speak the game sound reduces? Really noticable after 5sec.

Really annoying -.-

I noticed the reduced damage the rocket apparently gives on impact... also, someone in-game noted that the mg-42 has a slightly slower rate of fire now...

This +500. When you hold your push to talk key ingame, it quiets the ingame noise, and if you hold it long enough it TOTALLY cuts out all your ingame noise. Horrible feature.

i had this problem with the helmets a few updates ago, somebody told me it has to with your latest version of DirectX....yours is either out of date, or DoD is out of date with DirextX. Try setting your directX level through steam to a lower/higher level and see if that helps you with the shiny helmets.

-right click on the game you want to change
-properties
-set launch options
-yours will probably be at -dxlevel 90 (try adding 10 to that number...up or down....and see if that works)
-Example -dxlevel 80

THIS SHOULD ONLY BE DONE IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING, dont want it coming back on me because you cant fix it.

hope this helps,

You broke my PC. I want a new one.

Seems like the mic problem is also in css. Affected only some people

Lungbuster you are my new hero!

I changed my launch options for DOD through Steam and increased the value of

-dxlevel 90

to

-dxlevel 100

Now the in game video options show that I am running DirectX Hardware version 10 instead of 9. ( Software version still shows 9 but I dont care )

It fixed the shiny helmets and added about 20 FPS. Smoke does not seem to affect my FPS at all anymore either.

Shiny hats off to you lung!!
