Although not ending up in one of the event sucks, try communicating with others who were left out and have a fun premade instead. I've done numerous premades with other players when I missed out on an event and they ended up amazingly fun. I find that playing with 1 or 2 people from eGO in some cases is much more fun than playing with 9 others from eGO.
