As most of you know, I life in Texas. Yesterday, Cabela's opened up a new location in Allen, TX and they were also celebrating their 50th anniversary. I learned that R. Lee Ermey was going to be there to sign autographs. So I woke up early on a Saturday morning and headed to Cabela's. The store was so packed, they had people parking in other store's parking lots and shutteling people over to the store. Needless to say, I waited in line for 3 hours to talk to The Gunny. He signed autographs for 7 hours and didn't even want a lunch break. He's a very cool guy in person. He signed one of my desert camo covers as well as signing a picture. When he learned that I have been in the Marines for 4 years, he said "Well let me shake that hand again, Devil Dog" and he slipped me a coin. He was only giving Marines the coins and he had to be sneaky about it so nobody else would go crazy wanting one... Pictures below:

Wow, that's some pretty neat stuff, Des!

My teacher met Gunny before at a golfing event.

He was his caddy. I've always thought Gunny was a pretty cool guy.

RIGHT ON, both the wife and I met and talked to Ermey at the airshow last year at MCAS Yuma. Pics the whole 9 yards. He is an awesome guy. Grats on the coin

OUTSTANDING MARINE!

"Hell, I like you. You can come over to my house and meet my sister"

Ahhh Full Metal Jacket

ps. I do know the real quote

"Maybe we should chug on over to mamby-pamby land where maybe we can find some self-confidence for you, ya jack-wagon. Tissue? You make me sick."
