Lag/Ping

My lag on Day of Defeat keeps going nuts. my ping goes up to 1000 sometimes which is terrible and really sucks. I cant even move the dude. How do i fix my ping so it isnt crazy?

Ok, are there any other PC's on your internet? I mean, i have that too sometimes. If my brother is downloading like hell or uploading a big project for his school, i get a 999 ping to. Some more details should be handy.

- are there other users on your internet?
- Are u on a wireless internet?
- Have u tried to reset/restart your router/modem?
- what network card u have, or is it onboard?
- do u have the latest drivers for it, ...
