ICND2 certification help.

I know, I know...I'm asking for help. Shocker.

I have now taken the ICND2 exam for Cisco three times and have failed all three times (three weeks back-to-back). Scores: 771/1000 , 811/1000, 811/1000. It takes an 825 to pass.

I am quite familiar with cisco systems, and work on them daily. I have used CBT nuggets for learning and my own live lab for practice. Full equipment specs are available if needed. I have 1 corporate-site and 2 remote sites. 1 is linked using VPN and the other a PPP T1 (self-provided). Both sites are running IP telephony sucessfully.

My question; what else is there? Am I missing something? Any advice and/or suggestions welcome.

Strong points: Routing protocols (excluding BGP), VLSM/ subnetting in general, STP, basic configuration, NAT, WAN links (basic knowledge of frame-relay, solid on PPP/HDLC).

Weak points: IPv6.......and well, dunno....?!

Have you tried one of those e-books?
The one I'm specifically talking about is called,
"CCNA ICND2 Official Exam Certification Guide (CCNA Exams 640-816 and 640-802) (2nd Edition)"

I'm not ICND certified, but I like to read random certification books for the knowledge. I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for, but I know in this book, there's sections covering IPv6.

Also, Ric...if you'd like I can 'loan' you my CBT Nuggets package. I have CCENT through the CCIE Routing and Switching teaching materials. It would be a great addition to your knowledge base. (maybe let you play on my network for practice. )

Book purchased/shipped/delivered...so far, an interesting read/great investment!...I'll keep ya updated. Thanks for the mention!

Anyone taking the Cisco Certification tracks should look into the study guides from Cisco Press. They are well worth their weight in gold!

Congrats man, that's great news. I passed CCNA back in 2004 when it was only one book and the term "Paper CCNA" was rampant within the industry (when people thought CCNA was kind of a weak cert, which it was). I have a buddy who's trying to crack into IT and he's studying for his CCNA now. I'll definitely refer him to this thread for a little bit of help and inspiration.

I actually didn't know it was 825 to pass, when I took it it was 890 but for about half the material as the one now :D

Yeah, late '07 (pretty sure) they made the CCNA harder to get and changed the cirriculum to include full VPN config/tshoot and hit hard on VLSM. Concepts like routing protocols are much deeper now than in old-days. (Info according to Jeremy Cioara, my CCIE tutor/instructor).

If your buddy needs it, I'd be more than happy to loan a copy of my study materials. God knows they helped me!

Now...on to CCNA:Security and CCNP R&S....only 4 more tests to go!
 
It would be in your best interest to get a new book. The 9 year old books mentioned here are for the retired ICDN2 exam.
 
heh to be fair most of the cisco devices are still the same as they were 9 years ago. They just have even more proprietary licensing and shit now
