How to Ignore Spammers in Ventrilo

Due to the recent threads I saw throughout the EdgeGamers forums, I decided to make a simple post about how to ignore spammers in Ventrilo. These ways are simple, but people don't think to do them.

1. Don't complain. That's what they want you to do, and that's why they do the spamming (some of you refer to it as "trolling"). If a troll comes in, report them to an advisor, DL, or Council member (of course inform an advisor first).

2. Mute them. You can simply do this by right clicking their name --> User --> Mute. After you do this, you can not hear them anymore, unless they reconnect.

3. Just ignore them. They'll simply get bored and leave you alone.

Even if they reconnect they will still be muted if they reconnect using the same name so that is probably your best bet.

Back in the day, with some select friends of mine, I would just out-troll the trolls until they left. It wasn't too hard, half of them don't have the commitment or the dedication to stick with it, plus most of them aren't original. However, times have changed and I would recommend doing what has already been said:

Get a leadership member.

lately the trollers havnt been using 1 account its 7-8 accounts tat activate at the same time as one gets muted/banned please go to youtube and type in jjcoree and u will see what i mean.

The spammers main aim is to either annoy or simply record for youtube video's
but that main problem is that with multiple accounts activating its making it harder to simply ''ignore'' them and due to the rise in spammers we all know its spring break ^^ people prepare for operation slap a troll or 8.

Ill be watching our vent channel for trollers and trying my hardest to keep them out

The past 3 spammers I have received ended up being some funny convos.

Heck, one guy started asking us riddles to solve, was pretty funny actually. Not all spammers are trolls......ok, that might not be true, but trolls need love too?

This time of year also worries me a bit. Be sure not to act to hastily. I am a man of many voices and just as Peter Sellers was trapped in character I cannot use my normal voice online. Be careful not to ban a member who is just looking to brighten up your day with some silliness!

This is true too. The good ones will interact with you more and often end up being more entertaining than annoying.

Whenever I go onto vent I get mocked, shouted and made fun of! All I want to do is make friends and they tell me to get out! I mean whats wrong with breathing heavily down the mic, using a voice changer and scaring someone into believing im behind them?
