The disk probably isn't formatted to be recognized correctly by Windows. Please do the following to create a partition on the new hard drive and format it so that you can use it in Windows:
1. Open the
Run... dialog by holding the Windows key and pressing the R key on your keyboard.
2. Type in
compmgmt.msc into the dialog's text box and hit Enter.
3. In the console tree, click
Disk Management.
In the right pane, you should see your terabyte hard drive, along with your other drives. It will probably say "Unallocated" somewhere on the terabyte drive.
4. Right-click on the "Unallocated" terabyte drive and click "New Simple Volume." A window should pop up. The default configuration should be fine if you want the entire terabyte on a single partition. Click OK (or Create).
5. Right-click the terabyte volume again and click Format. Go ahead and format the entire partition.
You should now see the terabyte drive in Windows Explorer, and you should be able to use it like you would normally use any other hard drive.
