Personally, it's not a huge loss to me, as that debit card expired last month, and I make a good effort to keep account passwords, at the very least, separate. With the sheer gigantic amount of information that was stolen, though, it's safe to say that a lot of people could be at significant risk for further trouble from this.

I just got back from my bank, had to cancel the CC that I used to buy stuff from the PSN. The password I am not worried about as it's separate from everything else I use. But yea... this is going to be a HUGE blow to Sony's reputation. The rumor is, the reason why PSN is still down is because Sony and their 3rd party security company still don't know how the guy did it, so they don't know how to stop it from happening again.

Yea right... because it sounds SO much better admitting that you compromised all the data (and possibly CC numbers) of 77 million PSN accounts instead of just saying PSN got DOS'd...

Sony really messed up this time.

Now, its one thing to take down an online service, and remain silent about it until the community finds out on their own. Then they wait a week to tell us that our private info has been compromised. Wait, not only compromised, but stored without any encryption.

Over the few years I owned my PS3 I hated seeing the various anti-PS3 posts scattered on the net, but what's going on right now really hurts.

I don't own a PS3 but I genuinely feel bad for the people who have had their information leaked.

Sony have said whilst they aren't sure whether credit card information has been acquired, they can't rule it out. That's quite worrying, really.

Sony is a big careless company. This blow may just do them in for good. From a confidence standpoint, this really hurts.

This is going to hurt Sony bad, as PSN Plus subscriptions were actually rising and they were making good profits on PS3s sales after almost 2 years. Then there's all the new exclusives coming out this year, PSP Phone and the NGP. Also, Sony has announced the PlayStation Tablets.

Ouch, hopefully they turn this around completely with the public before Fall hits.
Also, totally ruined my weekend, grrrr hackers.

This is why I buy prepaid cards. I'm quite sure, although compromised, My PSN password is safe. This was about getting our credit card info not out psn accounts.

Everything on the account was compromised. Cards, addresses, even your PSN login info.

This is terrible! You would think a system like this would be fully secure, I do hope Sony sort it out ASAP and give something to their customers for screwing up!

p.s. I dont have a PS3 but it still sucks for those that do.

Man, massive fail on Sony's part here. I will keep my PS3, but not sure if ill buy any of their games from the network again. Man im gonna hate to shut down my card, just for security purposes. Now I gotta go to the bank & find out how to take out $$ (since Ive never had this issue w/ my current bank, but im sure it wont be hard to figure out). Good thing I never signed up for the Plus system. Also I can see possible lawsuits heading to Sony because of this mess.

I like a lot of what the PS3 does and is capable of and I think PSN is very respectable, especially with their increasing library of retro games increasing online. This is a huge blow and it hurts. Just because it hasn't happened on the other consoles doesn't mean that they are necessarily safe.

I think it also stinks to discover there are games that you can no longer play since you are not logged in. That is very unfortunate.

The last nail in the coffin though is the silence about it while the network was down for a week. You owe your customers better than that. I do hope everything works out in this instance, and rather quickly at that.
