Sometime around 4 PM, CST, an ex-graduate of Northern Illinois University came into an oceanography class, and opened fire with a shotgun and two pistols. A total of 21 casualties, 7 dead, and 14 wounded, at the end of the night.

This strikes home close to me, as my best friend from 5th grade onward goes there. He's going to be my Best Man in my wedding, and hearing this worried me quite a bit. He's ok, thankfully, but many were not so fortunate.

Yet another disturbance among the school systems.

Prayers and thoughts go out to the families of the injured and dead.

i heard about that on the news, it's pretty close to me as well (i live in Southern Wisconsin). although i don't know anyone down there it deffinitly sets the mind into chaos hearing about crap like this.

I live approximately 45 minutes from NIU, and actually have been planning to do my masters degree there. Eesh.

School shootings are becoming way to frequent for my liking...I feel awful too those people didn't deserve to go out like that

DUDE I live in Naperville/aurora area ITS 20 miles away from my house!11

i think there is something wrong with the school systems and their EMPLOYEES!! i mean come on why else would i kid that graduated go back there and start shooting up the school!!!!! he probably hated his dam life and the crap people at that school put him through, thats probably why he snapped and went on a killing SPREE!!!

It really does make you wonder what's going on, and what makes someone decide that shooting up their school is a good idea. The frequency of such attacks in the last decade is not only shocking, but terrifying.

I don't know what can be done to counteract this, but something needs to change. We need to find out how these individuals come to blame their peers and their school systems for their misfortune.... and find a way to stop it before this gets more absurd than it already is.

how do they let these people get the guns. There should be at least either a larger age limit. (kinda bad idea but idk) something to keep these types of weapons outta college kids' hands.

I'm sure they didn't know it at the time, but Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold started quite a popular trend. Not a good trend, but popular.
