<div style="width: 500px; text-align: center" align="center">So as you know, my whole family plays PC games. It all started for me at a little internet caf?, in Garden Grove California, called PC zone. I would take my little brother, and my then, 4 year old son, Chevy to play Counter Strike. I did have the concern, that it would be too mature for him. But, contrary to my belief, it really helped him with his hand eye coordination, and thought processing skills. So... I invested in a home gaming network, so I could introduce my daughter to PC gaming, and have quality family time. At least that was the excuse I used to sell my wife on the idea.
Surprisingly, I found unforeseen benefits that aided in my children's development. By the time the kids learned how to read and write, they had learned how to type as well. All of my kids compete in Jujitsu and Boxing. I do feel, that video gaming has really helped with the foundation in those sports. The hand eye coordination, and tactical thinking to be specific. Being able to predict what your opponent will do next, and being there to "counter strike".
Strong, my 4 year old, can not read or write yet, and still manages to navigate PC gaming. He can login to his own account, typing his name and password. He recognizes names when he plays jail too. He will ask me "who is this player" and then point to a name. Now, he knows most of the member's names by sight. One day we were gaming on jail, and he screamed out "Parvo free killed me!!!" I looked, and it was Parvo. After I stopped laughing, I realized the benefit. He has also has named some of the guns with the sounds they make. Creative right? You and I can read the names, but he can not. So what you and I would call "the auto sniper", he calls it "the NON-bush-ee gun". What you and I would call a .223 compact he calls "the POMP POMP gun."
Funny right? But, it was not always this much fun to game with my kids. It is a true challenge to find clean servers. When the kids were younger, I never let them go online and game. There is lots of filth out there. As Chevy and Savannah got older, I would let them play with me online. It became such a challenging task for me to find clean servers, I decided to lease a server for 6 months. I was amazed at how proficient Chevy became at, researching mods, adding mods, and admining the problem players. It also taught him great initiative, and problem solving skills. He basically taught me how to navigate and run a server, and he was only 9. But, it was really hard to get people to play on a sever in the first place, and even harder to get them to play by the rules. I felt my money was wasted on an slow server. So... I let it go.
Chevy hounded me to get it back. I bet he made every deal he could imagine to talk me back into it. Instead, I challenged him to find a clean server. He one upped me. He found EdgeGamers. He was playing on a DOD server when he saw someone get warned for bad language. Instantly he started researching eGO, and wanted to join. I told him, "I will join first, to see what it's all about". I have come to find that, not only does EdgeGamers provide a great gaming environment, it is a structured, complex, intelligent, mature, community where my kids can learn to become responsible leaders. Which can further aid in my children's development. I am sold, and we are here to stay.
My hat is off to all that make EdgeGamers possible. From the leadership, to the admins, to the dedicated supporters, who I feel are the most important. Your donations truly go along way. I will be a dedicated supporter for life. I thank god for PC games! I thank eGO for the clean and safe servers to play them!
P.S. Strong wanted me to add the following:
Parvo and Clarissa are his favorite people to play jail with.
Java basher needs less QQ and more pew pew.
A "MOOOOOOOOOO" for COW.
