Hey guys, last piece of the puzzle to my build. Im aiming for 1000 or 1200 watt psu. I will plan on GTX 580 sli soon. What are good brands you guys know of? Im looking at

Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 --- $180

Antec TPQ 1200 --- $220

CORSAIR Professional Series AX1200 --- $280

Antec High Current Pro HCP-1200 1200W --- $300

3 way SLI?

I would go with the TPQ 1200, best deal out of those. 80+ silver, many 12v rails (ocp can actually manage these).

At that kind of wattage i wouldn't trust the AX, because the OCP is a little slow to respond at loads that high. (this is true of any single rail design)

If you want the absolute best, the HCP is that.

if you only are planning for 2 580s, you really dont need 1200w, a quality 850w PSU would do well for that.

Both of the TPQ's only have 2x6pin 2x6+2pin so tri-SLI 580s would need to molex it up.

If you're talking only 2 580s, ^what he said^

go for a 850w antec psu no need for 1000w+. i remeber reading a thread talking about psu and how much power it really use i might be wrong but if i remeber correctly if u have a 550w and u got a low buget build really that psu only uses 350w

the 1200 has 4x6pin, and 4x8pin

not sure about the 1000, too lazy to look it up

You are correct about the 1200. The 1000 is 2x6 and 2x8. The 1200OC has 6 of each. And for some reason I thought the 580 has 2x8pin power connectors. That would be a real problem if it did.

That is strange.

The 1200 is worth the upgrade. It is a much newer desgin, that performs much better in many areas. Like efficiency.
