I heard through the grapevine that the FPS:X division might be getting a Brink server. The game launches tomorrow and I was just wondering if there was any truth to that or if there are plans in the works?

I have no clue.
But, to be honest, I don't think it will get too good a response. Look at the poll results, the return wasn't that great. And I think fewer than stated will actually get the game.

I haven't heard anything, it will depend on whether or not enough people in eGO will be getting the game and if there will be a PC community to support recruiting. You can drop box a request or inquiry for FPS:X leadership to read. I for one am looking forward to this game, but I'll be getting it for the console since my bro in law bought me a copy.

We are keeping a close eye on Brink, but we want to get a feel from the community before we get servers for Brink and make sure that it is technically feasible to support. So, if the much of the community enjoys the game and we can admin the servers, then we will try to get a server assuming we have the resources for it.

So, while I won't say that we are going to get a server for Brink, so far it is looking more and more promising.

I think the game looks really sweet, if we do decide to bring an eGO Server into there I will purchase the game.

I played the game last night for a few hours with Music and Plug and I will just say this...

This game has renewed my love for PC shooters, something I thought would never happen.

I just bought the game and I was unable to join a server last night... I'm about to try again = )

I'm loving it so far, but I doubt it will have the kind of community support to make it worth eGO looking into it :/

Its been getting a great response from the pro gaming world. There are already tournaments, casters, and pros. A lot of the Quake community is supporting this game. With their support, I doubt we'll see this one going away anytime soon.

See http://brink.tv for example. Or listen to the most recent Bethesda Blog, or Fragcast. Great interviews on those podcasts with people from the Quake world.

That said, hit me up anytime on Steam for a game or two.

I really enjoy it, but it can get a little dry guarding the same point for 10 minutes.... = )

ehhh, the game needs some work before id recommend over investing, especially on the pc.

the current build heavily favors light classes with smgs.
the usefulness of the classes are a bit lop sided ( medic engi waaay more points and way more important than operative and soldier )

there is allot of issues with using a guns iron sites
certain weapons are completely inferior in every way to other weapons and lack a true role.

the game........ is unfinished. its got potential but it has alot of issues.
definitely not as good a team game as tf2 minus crits

but it is definitely has more soul than your average cod clone ...

a majority of the maps are extremely linear as well and often boil down to one or to choke points per map
