Will this rig work?

Hello guys, as you may have guessed or even seen by now, i'm getting a new PC, and i think i've found components that fit together nicely. I'm a bit worried if the video card will work out with the mainboard though.
As i live in Norway i'm buying from an online store called "Komplett", so no newegg here.

The components i've gathered are the following:
[Tower] NZXT Phantom Big Tower (Black)
[CPU] Intel i5-2500K (3.3 GHz)
[Motherboard] ASUS P8P67 EVO B3 (Socket 1155)
[RAM] Kingston DDR3 HyperX 1600MHz (16 GB)
[Power] Corsair TX V2 750W PSU
[Harddrive] Seagate Barracuda? XT 2TB
[Videocard] XFX Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5
[Keyboard] Logitech G19
[CD/DVD] Sony Optiarc DVD?RW Burner AD-7263S
[Screen] Samsung 21,5" LED Syncmaster BX2231

If there's any recommendations to some other parts, or there's something i forgot, or there is something that won't work in this rig, PLEASE state so with a reply to this topic!
Also, if anyone is wondering, all of this turned out as 2400$ USD.
 
A couple quick things. I assume this is a gaming-only rig, correct me if I'm wrong!

1. Could you save money by downgrading the PSU to have less wattage? That system won't pull nearly 750.
2. Are you sure that 6950 will still unlock to a 6970? If it won't, the rig would do better with a 6970. I'd recommend downgrading the PSU
3. Do you really need sixteen gigs of RAM?
4. I'm having a brain fart moment, but I heard something funny about that particular mobo chipset. Anyone that can back me up here or am I just crazy?
 
It looks like it will all work.

I'm no Intel person, so I don't know of the quality of the motherboard/CPU.


Looking at the Harddrive, you don't NEED 6GB/s speed, in fact it's
nearly impossible to reach those limits at this time without benchmarking.


Quick question, why did you choose that DVD drive? Labelflash is limited to
DVD's and are usually more expensive than LightScribe discs.

That seems incredibly expensive at $2400 so it must be inflated prices over in Europe. I'm with runo on the PSU and 16GB RAM. 750W would be perfect for crossfire 69xx's. I also have absolutely no idea what you'd do with 16GB of RAM. No idea at all. Also, if you still want that 16GB how are you setting it up? You'd have to do four 4GB sticks since it only has four DIMM slots. If that's the case then everything you have will work together. I'd say any suggestions are just for tweaking the build for price-performance.

@runo, I seem to recall something about the p8p67 in general but I have no idea if it's even positive or negative. You're also making me think it might be just the EVO, but I'm not too sure.
 
looks fine.

The PSU is a bit overkill, but whatever. Something like 550-650 would be more appropriate.

Most P67 boards have some issue or another, and the P8P67's can cause socket burn if you overclock too hard, but unless you are pushing insane volts or using the max llc, it should be fine.

Bolded what I would choose. However, yes your first build in the first post would work properly.
 
u would like the g11 if u use macro would choice a cheaper case. like the mobo. 650w antec psu will do it and a spingpoint would be better. nice gpu 6950 is great oc to a 6970.

After reading through your replies, i've done a bit with the rig, and i've gotten a bit nicer price while increasing the efficiency of the build compared to what i'll do(Mostly gaming).

As you can see, i cut down a lot on the RAM, also on the monitor and PSU, and then got a much better GPU. I also listed the prices, i am sorry if this turned out untidy, but atleast it gives you a view of how the prices are here in Norway.
I've also purchased an anti-static armband and other cheap accessories, which are not listed here, so the totalprice is now currently

get the 6950 but all the rest looks great. if u live in a humide clint u dont need a anti static band
 
No SSD for your Operating System? That system will be fast in games, but it's going to take a while to get there without an SSD.

Drop the G19 down to a G15, and get a 60GB or 120GB SSD. The responsiveness of the computer will be far more epic than a color LCD screen on your keyboard. ;)
 
Just decided for the last build, but i included a 60GB SSD.
They don't sell the G15 at the webstore im buying from, so i'm still going with the G19. Thanks for all the replies, looks like i'll be ready with a new PC in a couple of days.
 
CD drives really arent a big deal. Almost all will work with any computer. But ide just go with something cheap. When i went to the store i found a CD drive that could burn disks for 15$. And it works great. Have had it for 5 months and nothing bad has happened. No scratches on any disks. No failures.

I've had my computer 6 months and other than installation discs for hardware, I don't think I've ever used it! :laugh:

Yea, I bet you in a few years time they will start phasing out discs.

Back when I was at primary school about 5 years ago now they upgraded the computers and none of them had support for floppys. Not even my school now. My computer doesn't even have it!

But don't worry I still have around 500 of them, in 50 years time I will sell them off and make MILLIONS!
