Guys I ask you to pray or whatever it is you do for my town and towns around mine. We are about to get slammed hard from the flood waters from the Mississippi river. My town should be fine as long as we don't have a levee that breaks on us by some horrible luck. But all of the towns that surround my town that don't have as good as a levee system(that are not high enough) as we do will be hit hard and most will simply vanish until the flood water goes back down but this could take weeks for it to all go back down. The water is suppose to get to us sometime late today or tomorrow. So if you don't see me on after wed I'm either out helping people or something bad happened to my house. So I am using this as my absentee post I guess you can call it. But I just wanted everyone to know why I may not be on for a little bit. I should be fine if the levees break(which they shouldn't because this won't be surge) most of my stuff is already packed up but my computer, and sitting in a moving truck for a just in case. Then only thing my town should have to worry about is a little street flooding but you just never know with something like this. This is just a link to one of the towns that is near mine that is suppose to get 15 feet of water. So have fun guys hope to see yall all soon. http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/05/13/lousiana.town.disaster/index.html

O and sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

I'll be praying... I'm from LA too, but my home isn't affected by the flooding thankfully

Well they changed the timeline of when the water was suppose to get here. It was suppose to be here by now. But now they are saying tomorrow sometime. So we shall see. But good news is they lowered how high they thought the water was today. They thought around 11.6 feet now 11 feet. in 1973 we had really bad flooding at 11 feet but since 1973 the levees and walls have been built up. So we should be fine just the other towns that are not behind high levees are walls will be hit hard.

I'll be praying for you and your city , I'm from LA too but on the other side good luck

Thanks Rt and everyone else. Im glad to say it looks like the Media and the corp of engineers were wrong about a whole bunch they were wrong with the timeline of the water getting down here because first they said wed night then Thursday night now it is Friday and the water is just getting here. Second they were wrong about how high the water it would be it went from like 15 ft to 13ft to 12ft to 11ft Idk what its suppose to be right now. But the good news everything is going great down here. No surrounding towns seem to be in endanger just yet. So we will just have to wait and see what happens.

I didn't know there was another Morgan City resident here! Luckily it looks like we'll make it through this ok as long as everything goes like it should. Talked to some friends from Stephensville last night and they are much more optimistic than they were a week ago as well. It's funny, a month after I moved here Hurricane Gustav hit, and now a month before I move away, there is a flood. I dont think Louisiana likes me much.

Argh moving away the blows I don't think I could leave Morgan City or Louisiana. The food some of the people. Just too much fun. Why you moving work?

My wife is in the Coast Guard, we've done our 3 years here and now it's on to some place new (Washington, DC).

This thread is lacking pictures, so without further ado:
