i started playing piano when i was 8, because i had a passion for it
yes you can learn anything, but i think what gives you the best chance of learning it, learning it quickly, and genuinly enjoying it, is having a passion for it
like, if you have a passion for something you do it because you want to, not because you know you have to, i practice every day and i am currently 19, i have never had a piano teacher, i taught myself
and i perservered because i had a passion for it
my advice to you is to learn how to read music, learn how to put the music on the piano, then look up beginner's stuff from EXPERTS, not some random beginners tutorial online
someone who is trained in education will help you to learn much faster
rythm will come to you the more you practice, few people are born with 'natural' rythm
your ability to play will increase because the more you practice the more connections are made in your brain
in short, learn how to read music, learn how to see sheet music and put it to a piano correctly, then find tutorials by educators, people that know what they're doing
and don't just memorize, LEARN, have fun
if you're not passionate about it you won't want to do it
you won't want to learn
and you will probably quit
you will quickly find out if the piano fascinates you and makes you want to experiment with it
on a side note i saw someone that said they switched from clarinet ( reed instrument ) to a brass instrument and said it is worlds apart
not the same thing.
both are wind instruments that require you to learn breath control to play 1 note at a time using combinations of fingers
that'd be like a piano player ONLY playing using the same 12 chords
piano requires you to play multiple rythms at the same time
at first it'll be 1 rythm
then one with each hand
then maybe two with one hand and a steady beat with another
and at advanced levels theres playing two or sometimes three different parts with each hand
if reed instruments are world aparts from brass instruments
the piano is galaxies apart from wind isntruments
so have at it
and have fun
