Just curious has long it usually takes newegg to process a check. I sent a check off tuesday morning and its been 8 days and order is still processing. I know its bad using a check but my mom hates using debit card, which i told her is less of a hassel than a check.

Tell her about PayPal. Extremely secure and quick.

Newegg is in California, so like Parkour said, it could depend on how far away you are. They also could have sent it already but not have updated the tracking (it happens, but not often).

It's probably either still getting there, or processing. So it could take awhile, with both shipping and processing.

I dunno about checks, but I've bought a lot of stuff on Newegg using a CC and it takes about an hour or two to process the transaction.

For checks you need to leave up to 2 weeks for processing (sometimes even longer). The problem with checks is that if the envelope is lost in the mail (which can happen from time to time), the receiver would never have gotten it. Wait the two weeks and then contact Newegg if they have received the check at all.

On such purchases, it's better to use credit cards or Paypal, as you noted.

eh at least its not to steel series they are all the way over in Denmark... gotta wait a few weeks to get my mouse from them -.-

Well i contacted them by email and they said they haven't received the check yet, since it's been over a week, but they asked if i could send them a tracking number of the check which i do not know how to find. I don't remember my last purchase using a check took this long.

They are asking for the tracking number of the letter/package you sent the check in.

If you sent it in any type of letter or package without a tracking number, signature required upon delivery, etc. then that's a HUGE mistake on your part.

You can call the bank and see if any checks have been processed against your account to see if anyone took it and used it.

Well i got another email asking for the number of the check along with others. I know its prolly a dumb question but i've never delt with checks before, im only 17 so my mom handels the checks and stuff.

As Crazy said, contact the bank to confirm if your check has been cashed at all. If so, and newegg says they didn't do it, have the bank reverse it and consider it as forgery/stolen. You may have to pay a penalty, but that depends on the bank you use.

The check number is on the top right corner of the check when you wrote it out. Are you using your own personal checking account, or your mom, and who signed for it? You should have recorded the check number, date, recipient, and amount in your check book (Congratulations! This is called account reconciliation, one of the skills we accountants have to learn fast).

Alright i'm having mom call today to check. It was out of my check account but mom signs it and stuff and everything is recorded.

Use their own preferred charge account. Processing is done in minutes and you can pay through that via credit card / direct from bank, whatever.

Considering the poster's age is under the legal age of 18 to own a credit card, the last two suggestions with a credit card isn't very beneficial.

Of course, prepaid credit cards and debit cards are a different story, including if the person is an authorized (parent granted) user.

I think that's more for business/high volume buyers; and you need good/established credit to get that.

I would have suggested you use PayPal to pay: just link a PayPal account to your checking account (or your parents, with their permission). It's free to you, it debits your checking account just like writing a check or using a debit card, it's instantaneous and your stuff gets shipped immediately.

Ill be sure to rem that. But i had mom call the bank yesterday and they said no one has cashed the check. Sent it off on the 10th and its not 21th and still processing.

Call the bank and check the status of the check. If it hasn't been processed, then just wait another week. After that, cancel the check and just do the CC method.... Simple situation really, man. No worries. All you need is patience.
:-)

And if it has been cashed, most banks have buffers in case of such situations, so you most likely won't be held accountable for any amount spent.

Nooooo worries.
