Best Android phone plan considering price and features?

Hey guys. I'm looking to buy a cell phone for myself. Can someone point me in the right direction considering my needs?

Here's what I want:

Plan:
Unlimited data and texting
As few minutes as possible, as I will rarely use the phone for telephone calls
As cheap as possible
Preferably no-contract

Phone:
Android OS
3.2" or larger screen; the bigger the better
Decent processor and memory; the faster the better
$250 or less

I've been looking at Virgin Mobile's $25/month plan with the LG Optimus V, and I'm very happy with the speed that I've seen of that phone, but I think I'd like something with a bigger screen and maybe more features. $25 is a great price for me considering I get unlimited data and texting and only a small amount of talk minutes. I will most likely be going with Virgin Mobile's plan, but if there are some other good ones that you guys know of, I'd love to hear them!

I read the first part of your post and the Optimus V was the first thing that popped into mind. The main problem with it is it lacks flash, but don't let the 600 Mhz processor fool you, it's pretty damn fast. With virgin's 25$ plan you can enjoy all the services other smartphone owners use for hella less. The Optimus V has my vote, because it has a great bang for the buck.

Thanks for your input, manatee. Again, I was really considering Virgin Mobile and the Optimus all along, but I just wanted to get some other peoples' inputs.

Anyways, I ordered the Optimus just a few hours ago. I think it was the right choice.

I have no idea about US price plans but man I want the HTC Sensation. Makes my Desire look so old and outdated, and not just because it is.

Just an FYI, location is very relevant, as some providers suck, while others are great. May want to put in the state you're in (your choice).

I have debated an android phone, but it will be in the future.


I would rather do voice than text. Texting can be too damn tedious.

I'm a tad late for this reply, but If you can, I would go for a google branded android phone (Nexus S, Nexus one)

They run vanilla (stock) android which alone makes them faster, use less ram and get longer battery life.

They're not any more $ than other phones either, and you can get them for T-Mobile (which would be a good cheap carrier, I use them and their 4G speeds blow most other guys out of the water) or sprint/at&t
