iPod Problems

So I just got an iPod and I recently restored it. It's a 2nd gen 8 gig iPod Touch and every time I try to connect it to my computer, iTunes freezes but my iPod is stuck at the plug the iPod into iTunes screen in order to update it.. Any ideas?

*EDIT* I'm running Windows 7 64 Bit and I have the latest iTunes update.

My suggestion,
A: reinstall itunes
B: Try updating it at somebody elses houses, if it works with one of your friends the problem is on your side.
C: Try updating somebody elses ipod if it works then its your iPod.
Locating the source of the problem is always the first thing I do is situations like this

Make sure the iPod Touch isn't locked, lol.
iTunes can "lock" your iPod for you, it's a new feature.

That means if you try to plug my iPod into your Computer when I have it locked on my Computer, it won't work on your Computer.
