$700 first build

DO:
-Follow the link in my signature to the build guide
-Eat cake

DON'T:
-Not eat cake

All I can think of has already been said by reflex or is covered in my build guide.

Just out of curiousity..

Does Newegg charge shipping on each item shipped? Or is there free shipping if your order is above a certain amount?

depend if the item has free shipping or not
and i bought like 5 items all free shipping did not get charged

Didn't the sandy bridge processors have a design flaw and were recalled a few months ago??

I can't believe no one bothered to mention that.

I can't believe no one bothered to mention that.

There is/never has been a flaw with SNB processors.

Maybe you are thinking about the sata issue, but they fixed that a few months back.

All the stuff we are recommending is fine.

Yes that would be it. It was the motherboards... not the processors. I remembered whatever the headline articles said... (Sandy Bridge Recall).

Either way, I still would have mentioned it to him.

Well sure, you could mention it. But since Intel thoroughly took care of the issue, no one will be getting an affected motherboard.

DON'T:
-Force stuff, pretty much everything except ram requires little to no force.
-Spill liquids on stuff
-Stick fingers in fans
-touch the pins in the socket
-lose the socket cover
-apply force to sata cables while they are connected to stuff
-bend sata cables in half
-Cross the beams

DO:
-Check to make sure you have everything plugged in before you post here telling us it doesnt work
-take a break if you get frustrated
-you *can* set it up outside the case first so that you can check that everything works before you waste time putting it in the case
-register for any applicable warranties
-save reciepts
-Take pics so we can see

What is this? Why shouldn't you do it?

Alright guys, buying time! Going up to the library to pick it all out tomorrow with a budget of $850 including shipping. I plan to do quick ship so the final budget before shipping should be $800, meaning reflexes build plus windows 7 OEM meets my budget.

Will the build Reflex posted play Deus Ex: HR on decent settings? If not how about with a little tweaking? I was thinking of selling my PS3 with all the games and equipment for $350 anyway.

looks good to me. For graphics I have a 4870 and the thing has great gui settings for most games I play (source engine is a good example) so I have no doubt the 6870 will do just what you need. I also have a gigabyte board and I really like it. Building is easy as you really just have to put each part in its right place, and then do a tiny bit of cable management, but I think its fun :p
