Dearest eGO members,

I have a Razer Carcharias. It has exceptional speakers, and the mic works great! But... the mic does not work anymore. I'm using a Creative x-mod USB sound card, that has a mic and headphone jack.

? Things I've tried
-Un-plugging it, and plugging it back in(both the headset and soundcard)
-Plugging it directly into the MOBO sound card; nothing happens.
-Going into the control panel, and allowing, every single "Mic" channel
-Sticking jelly preserves into the microphone
-A Cherokee Indian Rain-Dance.

All suggestions, and ideas will be tried.

Thanks!

I succeeded in re-installing. But huzzah, no pickup from the voice, to the microphone, into the computer.

Is the microphone set as the default recording devices under your system's sound settings? Also, is it set as the default recording device in Ventrilo's settings?

This is slightly different from one of the things you've tried. Under Windows 7 and Windows Vista, you have an extra option on recording and playback sound devices in your sound settings (via Control Panel and the volume button on the taskbar). You should notice a button that says "Set Default" around the button of the window with all of your recording or playback devices.

Here's a picture for what it looks like on Vista. It should look the same on Windows 7 if I remember correctly.

The green checkmark indicates a device is your "default recording" or "default playback" device. In this case, Stereo Mix is my default recording device. However, I have "Microphone" selected and my mouse is hovering over the Set Default button.

In Ventrilo, make sure the default input device is either your Microphone or the Default DirectSound Device (in other words, your computer's default recording device).

Did all that, went back and forth setting different things as default. Nothing worked. Booo.
