For those who have been watching the NBA western conference finals... they showed the first trailer for the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 COD game.

What did you guys think of it?

To me it looks the exact same and provides little to no improvement. The graphics look the same and doesnt look like it will even compete with BF3

I saw it.

They mostly showed the cinematic sequences, which usually are AMAZING graphics.. but..

The actual gameplay sequences are limited and only shown in FLASHES... and from what I saw from those flashes are relatively mediocre graphics compared to BF3.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww mw3. from what i saw its going to be using a similar engine to black ops which is just stupid. CoD's graphics have been outdated for awhile now and the physics engine could use some new stuff like BF games have now. CoD is a dying bird its the same old thing year after year with a couple ribbons tied around it with a new price tag.

if CoD wants to stay on top and bring in more than just fanboys that are blind to games like BF3, they need to step back, stop making one CoD game a year, update their graphics engine, use destructible enviroments, bigger maps, bring back vehicles, more realistic animations, stop making knifing a quick slash that one hits, make it at least a dramatic slash like in BC2 so you cant just spring around the whole map slashing, doesnt make a bit of sense for a slash of a knife to be an instant kill.

stop with the ridiculous perks, just make perks that make sense. fix weapon recoil, weapons are WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY to accurate in CoD games, if you go out and shoot an ak47 full auto in real life, you would not be able to keep anywhere near the target you would be shooting at planes by the 10th shot

/end rant

CoD games are not meant to be realistic.

That's where the battlefield franchise comes in.

I don't understand why some people can't see the obvious... :confused1:

Was not impressed.

More running heroically to an objective while 10 bad guys are shooting at you (none of them are shooting at your computer squad friends), dDriving a barely controllable vehicle at 90mph in a chase scene, an ac130 mission to say "we have vehicles too!"

Two big reasons I am not impressed:

1. No apparent innovation from it and its predecessor(s).

2. It's clear to me that BF3 is a made for PC first title; from first impressions, I am leaning that MW3 is console first (makes more money on consoles and it's a Bobby Kotick company, duh). As a PC gamer the choice could not be any clearer for me; it'll be BF3 for me unless MW3 unveils something new and exciting in the series.

Actually CoD games are supposed to be based around realism, hence their past choices for storylines revolving around real events, their choice in real weapons. if its not meant to be realistic then you should check up on the definition : /

This article sums up most of my feelings about the Modern Warfare series. I really dont care any more and try to skip any gaming news about anything related to CoD.

Also as a comparison....MW3 will have be in development for 2 years and a reused engine before it is released. BF3 will have 6 years and a brand new engine before it is released:thumbup:

Arcadey is NOT realistic. Every CoD game that exists = arcadey. Do you really think MW3 is going to be any different? Hahaaaa enough said really. :)

The dictionary states 'CoD is not meant to be realistic'.

im talking about the overall game, not just the gameplay.

realistic: depicting or emphasizing what is real and actual rather than abstract or ideal

i.e. depicting real weapons and armies instead of making up ones

call of booty is just stress, rage and arcade style game that after playing for 2 months u give up because its the same thing as last november, your mad because you keep getting knifed by commando pro, you have uav up constantly on other team so u cant hide and guns suck.

Miss anything?

Okey this game wont be a good game... because of this...

So... MW fanboys... Get a new PC and get BF3 and STOP playing the same game... over and over again, just because of a new skin pack with a fancy new name.... don't waste 60$ each time!

When we see first person gameplay videos (especially multiplayer) of each game, I think it will be blatantly obvious which offers more and brings novelty to the table.

DICE/EA/BF3 I am rdy to receive u

So, your solution is to become a BF wannabe? If IW tried to make the CoD series (which has NOT always been arcadey) like the BF series, all you BF fanboys would bash them saying they are trying to be like BF and not being original.

Also, anyone who says CoD has always been "arcadey" obviously thinks the CoD series begins with CoD4 and has never played CoD2, UO, or CoD1.

someone is obviously upset about CoD bashing, i wasnt referring to making it like BF games, im talking about that they need to stop making CoD the same every year with a couple retextures and the same bad old graphics. ever since CoD4, CoD has just got ridiculously boring its the same stupid junk each year.

i dont want them to try and clone BF games, they would never pull it off to begin with. i want them to go back to their roots with CoD, CoD2, CoD3 where there were vehicles in multiplayer, LMG's could use their bipods.

if you want to call me a BF 'fanboy' go ahead, i'd rather be a fanboy of a gaming series that is going somewhere instead of one like CoD that is going to die out unless they start changing things.

I'm going to bold things that happen in BF games.

Now I'll explain why you're still wrong.

First of all, the only CoD games that have had vehicles are CoD UO and CoD3, both of which were not developed by Infinity Ward, who created the Call of Duty series. The same goes for the use of LMG bipods.

CoD3 was a massive failure and a departure from CoD2, which was (and still is) a fan favorite and massive game with years of serious competitive play.

United Offensive was a good game, but it wasn't anywhere near the game that the original CoD was. The vehicle mod was gimmicky and there wasn't much added from CoD1.

CoD2 and CoD1, which were made by Infinity Ward, had none of the things you say they had or should have, and yet they were massive successes, not just for "fanboys." There are still thousands of CoD2 servers that are full on a regular basis.

Now, I'm not saying that MW2 or BO are where I think the CoD series should be going. The lead developers of IW who made CoD4, CoD2, and CoD1 were fired by Activision during the development of MW2 and the games have not been the same since.

I see what you did there. Now you know.

/flex.

well if CoD does bring destructible enviroments, stops with the silly perks, and adjusts weapon recoil i wont say they are copying BF, ill just say they are making progress and embracing the future of shooters. for one destructible enviroments in BF was not completely original, since destructible enviroments became a huge part of red faction and which tbh made red faction one of my favorite games of all time.

and when i said "doesnt make a bit of sense for a slash of a knife to be an instant kill." i was talking about how the knife slash in CoD is just a quick swipe that last a fraction of a second, whereas in BC2 when you knife someone its a stab that lasts about a second and a half.

But what i really am getting at is how knifing is in the BC1 and older BF games where you actually had to pull out your knife to knife instead of just clicking one button and you knifed with your gun still out which is just silly. if you look at the average US soldier and the placement of his combat knife, you will notice it is usually on his left shoulder area with the holder upside down which kind of makes it hard for someone to pull the knife out quickly with either hand while holding a gun and doing a super quick slash/stab

Guys, let's try to not be abrasive. We're the BC2 division. many of us are vehemently against anything CoD-oriented. No need to debate/argue things about CoD in the BC2 division discussion. Healthy debate is encouraged, but two people going back and forth is far from healthy.
