My most respected division members,

Over the last two years I have been in eGO I have made new friends and seen some leave. What a lot of our members forget is that eGO was originally a Day of Defeat: Source (hereafter referred to as “DoD”) community. Like many of you I started off with the original Counter Strike and Day of Defeat before the new Source games came out. When Half Life 2 and Source were released many of us found an updated environment that we could game in, things like physics, motion-blur, and particle effects challenged our previous video game experiences and instantly gained our love and support.

I still remember the first time I played DoD and rocked some socks with my beloved MG-42 mowing down everything and everybody in sight—then getting banned because of my inability to recognize friend from foe in friendly fire servers. Nevertheless since the first time I played DoD I got hooked. A lot of great games have come out since HL2 and DoD but DoD has always been my fallback… my first and only video game sweetheart. Like most of you I choose to waste my time and money on the newest video games as a source of entertainment but no matter how cool I thought a new game was or how everyone of my friends played them I always found myself returning to DoD.

A little over two years ago after I took a hiatus from all video games I returned to play some DoD and as fate would have it I joined an eGO server. At the time I didn’t know much about eGO I just knew it was one of the servers where I had to watch my mouth. Since I wanted to get into DoD again I decided to ask where I could sign up to join this clan. Two years later I’m still playing a game that came out in 2005, and guess what?—I FREAKIN STILL LOVE IT.

There are times when I’m bored by DoD, when I’m bored by any video game. I can’t speak for all of you but at one point or another I’ve though “I want something new, I NEED something new” and I’ll spend $50 or $60 on the latest and greatest video game that has critics and fans spouting the amazing new graphics or the concept of adding a laser to a grenade launcher. After I beat the game on single player and rage-quit from a server I always find myself loading up Donner, grabbing a ’42 and laying down the law in our servers.

When I hop in Vent or in game to see members who I’ve known for years, pubs who I’ve known for just as long, and members who are relatively new I know why I’m in the DoD division and why I’ll never leave. Even though our division and even our entire community was created because of a simple game it has transformed into something I cherish. I have made a lot of friends here, friends who make playing on our servers a lot more fun. Our division is extremely fortunate to have members and admins who act maturely, perform their duties, and still create a fun environment for everyone. Without the community DoD would just be another game at this point and our division would mean nothing to me.

We all know people who have left this division and frankly they have every right to do so. There’s nothing wrong about doing it and if you believe that you’ll see greener pastures if you do; do it. I can assure you that every division in eGO has a fun and supportive environment but I can’t imagine any group of people impressing me more than my fellow DoD division members. I have never run across a community of people that are so dedicated and act so maturely as I have seen in eGO. Within eGO it is my extremely biased opinion that our DoD division has always set the example and that our members are the pinnacle of what Edgegamers tries to instill. I can’t help but think that there’s no better place for me than right here in the DoD Division, the founding division, the boldest division, the division with the best people and the best game—The Day of Defeat: Source Division!!!

To all of our current and past Day of Defeat: Source Division Members:

DoD for life!!!

I do exactly the same, haha :)

Really nice post, DOD:S For life:)

nice! And just check my signature ^^

At first I thought you meant the WOT sig.
But it's been an awesome time guys can't wait for the years to come. I've been playing DOD for over 5 years now, and it fails to bore me. Could be me being easily entertained but it never lost its fun.

When does the campfire and Kumbaya singing start!!!!

Come July I will have been with eGO for 3 years! Honestly I don't think if not for eGO I would probably still be playing DOD:S, even though I have been playing it since the 1.3 days of the original. But its the people in eGO that I have met and enjoy playing with that keep me in the servers.

DoD ftw. I did not like DoDs when it came out, took me a while to warm up to it.
