im dissapointed with the Multiplayer presentation, its the same old flash in flash out Fault Line crap with no real detail. For all we know its just BFBC with some BF2 elements thrown in.

and it looks like thats exactly what it is: http://bf3blog.com/2011/03/battlefield-3-multiplayer-what-is-confirmed-so-far/

No commander, no choice on what you unlock, no mod tools. It might beat Call Of Duty, but it won't be as much like its predecessor as we have hoped.

Commander? Now you're talking Project Reality, not BF. Honestly though, I can only hope PR moves onto BF3 somehow, so... f they do its an instant buy the night before PR releases for it. Otherwise, not worth it for me.

see i wasent around for the premiere of bf3 but i would have to say its prob gonna be bigger than mw3 this year or next

The commander role was present in vanilla BF2... so I'm not sure what you mean by that. I definitely hope PR and other mods move to BF3, though, too. EA/DICE better release those mod/map tools shortly after release. They're taking the extra step for the PC version, but mod support is one of those things that lets PC games stand out from the rest.

I'll be picking it up either way, though. I've been following the BF series since 1942, through the good and the bad. This one looks like it's shaping into a winner. I can't wait for some good, old dogfighting action. It just doesn't feel like a BF game without air combat, so I'm glad to see it return.

DICE already said that they wouldnt include full modding tools because it would be too complicated to dumb down the actual tools for modders to use because of complexity of frostbite 2 versus BF2's engine

from what i saw of the multiplayer part there were squad leaders (had a star next to their name at the top of squad) which could mean that there will be commanders since the only BF games that didnt have them were BC games.

Whoops, it seems it was. I haven't played vanilla bf2 in nearly half a decade, you'll have to forgive me :(.

If it's anything like BF2 gameplay mechanics with BC2 Engine capabilities (more I'm hoping since they're tooling it for the PC) it'll be good. I would love seeing the hand-to-hand combat part they show in the single-player trailer make its way into the multiplayer, but I have a feeling that was a scripted event and not a gameplay mechanic.

On PR though, I thought the guys making PR were going to try to make their own game that's pretty much PR just not under the BF umbrella so they could actually make some money.

yes that knife play was a scripted event for single player only. it would be too clunky and you would be too vulnerable if that combat was in multiplayer. they showed in the multiplayer video someone knifing. when you knife you grab the enemy by the collar and stab them in the chest

PR is making its own game, but last I heard they weren't even done with the engine yet... so it'll be a couple of years.
