Counter Strike volume very low

Well, for the past two days my in-game volume in css has been very low. It was not my headset because I bought a new pair, and they work well outside of the game. However, in game, the footsteps and gun shots I have noticed are very low, even with the volume turned all the way up. Is there any way I can fix this?

Do you have Windows 7?
If so, check the specific game volume and make sure it's turned up all the way.
Left click audio speaker > Mixer

Does your headset have a built in soundcard, some usb headsets do. Make sure in audio properties, you have the correct device selected. Only other thing I can think of is your config. Their should be a setting in your config if I remember correctly that will maximize volume?
