TF2 Major Lag

Sorry if this isn't in the right forum... It's a mix of TF2 and Tech help (I think).

Any-who, I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem I've been having with TF2. Every minute or so, (or when I encounter a lot of action.) my game will just freeze up in place for maybe a good 10-20 seconds or so. And then usually, I will find myself to have died when my game unfreezes. This also happens while I'm editing videos in the TF2 Video Editor (Whatever it's called!).

So a little background...

Once upon a time, there was a TF2 update called the "Australian Christmas". I played it, had loads of fun, and then for whatever reason, I stopped playing TF2. Fast forward a few months, I try playing TF2 again, and the lag(or whatever it is) starts happening. In those few months of no TF2, I experienced problems with other games making my PC shut down if I played for too long, but I fixed it by cleaning out all the dust in my PC. Now all my other games work fine, Css, Bc2, etc. but my Tf2 will give me A LOT of problems. Anyone have a fix?

Just tell me if you need my PC Stats. And also tell me how to get it.
Sorry if my English is off... I come from California. We make up our own language here.

This happens to me as well.

I download music from legit sources (ie Bandcamp), and that's about it. I have no clue why I have lag spikes, as my Ping usually hovers in the 10s-30s.

Have you checked to see if your comp is overheating while running the game, I had this problem and installed 2 $9 fans and it fixed my problem. Have you tried to lower the settings and see if there is no lag...other than that I have no idea what to do :/.

Sounds like overheating issues to me. I was also having this issue and it helped to place my PC Tower on an elevated platform with better airflow. Also, pc specs would probably help. May as well post them, your going to have to eventually anyway.

To get stats for us quickly, press the windows key + R, when the run command comes up type dxdiag. On the System Page towards the bottom, click Save All Information... and copy and paste that file into a post.

It DOES sound like an overheating issue, how old is your computer, cause even dust might not be the only culprit anymore if it is an older machine. Other issues could include memory or even video card issues. Try adjusting different video card settings and see if it changes your performance.

EDIT: Here I posted my system info, but it was one of those tl;dr type of things, so i removed it.

Ok, seeing how Tf2 is free now... I really want to play again so I can make some newcomers cry. I've noticed that during moments of major lag spikes, my netgraph's "in" goes up past the thousands. Any idea now?
