Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalker 2012 is out, anyone else playing it?

Single Player offers three campaigns to play through, and they set-up challenges for you to beat as well that help teach strategy. In the campaign, you face off against each Planeswalker, then you face a Boss at the end of each campaign.

On-Line has three game-modes:
Archenemy: 3 Players team up to take down 1 powerful Boss. He gets to draw from his normal deck and an additional Archenemy deck. (I've learned many new and colorful phrases in my adventures playing this mode)
Two-Headed Beast: Two players team up against two opponents in a 2on2 battle.
Free-for-All: Pretty straight forward.

Decks are (mostly) new. So far, they feel kinda straight forward compared to older iterations. There are 6 decks to unlock, and each deck has about 15 cards you unlock through playing. There is a 'special' version of this game. Do not buy it. Extras are foil cards (your cards look like they have a 'foil' border). Not worth another $9.99.

The game itself looks OK animation wise, but it is just a card playing game. Here's a video showing gameplay:

The Intro video is nice, and helps introduce the story, but...after this it's just playing a card game. They kinda just stopped with the story. I thought after beating the campaigns (there are 3 campaigns to play through in the single-player game) you'd see more / learn more, but...

I play Magic! My deck is awesomesauce (cards are mostly from the Kamigawa and Mirrodin cycles) and I need to test it against more people.
I don't play this game that much (yet), but I have it on XBLA.

I bought the first one when it came out on XBLA a few years ago, honestly I'm not too interested in buying it again, although it is cool that they have Archenemy mode added.

I bought cards last year which means my collection is now obsolete lol. Although those new EDH...ahem ahem excuse me "Champion" decks sound really neat.

I bought Plainswalker it pretty fun I enjoy the change of pace and I am almost finished with the 1st campaign

I started playing magic around Fallen Empires and quit after Urza's. I have a lot card under my bed that most likely i'll never use

Old cards are never obsolete. Except for the banned ones. For example, see the original Mirrodin cycle. Decks from then still hold up pretty well against newer decks (evidenced by a recent match my brothers played).

I burned all my cards years ago..

It was fun while it lasted. Then there were too many new abilities that popped up for my liking.

Yeah, a bunch of these new things are rather confusing (still don't understand Planeswalkers) but it does all seem to balance out.

It's funny that you say that, Mirrodin cycle was when I first bought some cards. My family was very uh..."religiously conservative" for a long time so when I got my dad to buy cards and play it with me it was a big step lol.

I like the game, the problem is just if you want to keep up competitive (type II) and all you have to constantly buy.

but EDH--I mean "Champion" still looks fun.

I used to play magic with my friends. But I stopped coz my friends weren't playing anymore and it's quite expensive to maintain. But Really an awesome game.

I tried the actual card-game, and found out just how quickly a deck can become obsolete. I kinda like the on-line game because everyone has a known deck.

biggest issue right now is that text-chat isn't working - it's either voice or steam chat for communication

How about an artifact deck, with the Mycosynth Lattice in it? Especially with the Darksteel Forge (makes every artifact on your side of the field indestructible) or with anything that's really pro-artifact (Summoning Station + Arcbound Ravager + Lattice, anyone? Cranial Plating? Memnarch, or Magus of the Mirror + Arcbound Ravager?)

I absolutely hate that one card. In conjunction with such an amazing artifact deck, my brother is pretty much unbeatable at times Q.Q. At least, unbeatable to all the people he's played. I'm sure plenty of people can beat him.
