New cell phone

Hey everyone I was looking for a new cell phone because my plan expires in August So I was looking to get the droid. Does anyone have any recommendations on which droid I should get? Or if I should get a different smart phone.

I have a droid (HTC) i really recommend you get something else. I personally did not like the droid.

I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini Pro and I recommend it but, its rather small

I don't know a lot about android, but I heard Sony doesn't often release updates to their androids phone to the next version.

If you are going the android route, I strongly suggest going with a samsung product. HD video and great performance. Sony also has their name gaming phone, and that would be a blast to use as well.

A Thing to keep in mind. Android OS rarely needs updating, since it's built off the linux OS.
(industry standard for the best OS.)

The best thing I could say is go to the store and play with the phones. Waste the poor employees time, and figure out what you like and what you need your phone to do.

I personally have a Samsung Galaxy S. Which I would highly recommend.

iPhone.

I have owned android phones for almost 3 years now. A couple weeks ago, i bought an iPod touch for various reason, and more recently an iPad.

Having used both, iOS is much more polished and functional than android. You can try to argue that it lack customization, but once you jail break it , it is just as customization as rooted android.

iOS apps also seem to be consistantly higher quality than android ones.

I say go for the iphone, you won't be disappointed.

I've owned a iPod Touch, but I still enjoy my android more do to the fact that its extremely customizable and you don't have to root it or jailbreak it just for this purpose.

A KEY note I tell everyone when deciding what to buy for a phone is. Are you into customizing your high tech geek stuff or just a standard user? If your not all that into tech. I'd recommend a iPhone because its harder to screw up. You wont be able to download an app that will ship all your contacts to china. If you can say your decent with electronics but not a pro go with the android for the easy customizable aspect. Pro user it really is based on your personal preferences.

I have the G2 from HTC and I love it. 4G capable if your in the correct area and its fast enough to use all the lastest apps. Was one of the 3 phones netflix supported right off that bat.

It's not just about customization. The amount of support behind iOS is years ahead (as would make sense since it came to market about a year before) android. Android apps lack the polish that iOS ones have. There is an app for just about everything on the app store.

If you like games, you will probably not like android as much. There are many more on iOS (reason i bought the iPad/ipod).

Also a note I forgot to mention. ALL android phones are DIFFERENT. Different hardware and sometimes OS's which means not all apps will work on your phone. iphones are base lined and all apps will work with them. Even with this I still prefer my android =P

Most Android phones have different interfaces, depending on the manufacturer of the phone. They're all Android, as that is the OS. Some apps don't work simply because they can't program for all of the hardware. Plus some of the phones are just complete crap in terms of hardware. Those manufacturers give Android a bad name, in my opinion.
