  • TF2 is now Free To Play
  • Added the Uber Update: http://www.teamfortress.com/uberupdate/
  • Added PL_Barnblitz, a new Payload map
  • Added all kinds of new goodies!
  • The Main menu now has a "Start Playing" option which presents users with various game modes to choose from. Once selected, the game matches the player into the best available server for that mode.
  • The Crafting interface has been redesigned to accommodate the fact that crafting blueprints are always known to players now.
  • The Item selection screen in Loadouts has been redesigned to support selection among a larger number of items.
  • Training improvements:
    • New training user interface
    • Added "A,W,S,D" movement instruction to Soldier training
    • Added ammo instruction to Engineer training
    • Clarified many instructional strings
  • Added new voting sounds
  • Fixed various Coaching bugs
  • Fixed various gameplay bugs

You actually get instant Premium access and a "Proof of Purchase" hat.

TF2 is honestly the best game that could go F2P. Sure VAC isn't bullet proof but it works better than most counter-measures, and of course we have the rich and well developed admin tools that SourceMod and it's plugins provide.

We can handle this.

kind of sad but oh well. i rly dont care about the few $ i spend for this game. just check your profiles guys and see how many hours youve spend in tf2. that would be over 1000 for me so i guess my money was spend in a good way.
the problem i see might appear are problems with ppl who just want to troll on ego servers and get like 20 accounts ready and hackers. also it might become a problem for some of us to join a server with lots of new players on the game.
 
BREAKING NEWS: Valve will give you back your money that you paid for TF2 if you give them back all the hundreds of hours of fun you had.
 
Look at the bright side: More players can mean more recruits for eGO who may not have otherwise been able to play/join.

They can purchase the cheapest item which is probably under a dollar and get the premium account. Like Danjk, I don't care about the stupid hats or my backpack size.

Yes, while I agree with you what about the other people... the hackers, the griefers and the ones who break our rules, get banned and will just come back to cause more grief?
 
I don't care that much :D I got tf2 for $2.49 :P

But I realize how a lot of people feel about it...
 
Maybe it will be possible to only allow premium players, that way people will have to pay (just a little) to play on the servers and it will be less likely banned players will return.

Now if only we could get a Dustbowl/Turbine 24/7 server online I would actually play more!

I remember TF2 going for like a dollar one time. Did people complain then?

I really don't see an issue here other then hackers. But i'm sure valve will do something for that.
 
All I really want is Dustbowl and Turbine to come back to a 24/7 server for our TF2 division and I will play a lot more on our servers. Right now i find myself playing on other clans servers and playing those two maps and never joining eGO's servers anymore. Still bugs me that the servers dont have as much to offer as they used to. Those are the two best/popular maps in the game for crying out loud and we have neither in a 24/7 setting only running maybe once or twice per day buried in the valve maps server which is hard enough to fill!

Im not too fussed about the premium accounts and the other stuff, I just want to play the game.

IMO valve should have kept a price tag on it even if it was as low as $1.
 
Guys should really stop worrying about hackers, I mean, we're eGO... I have hackers for breakfast.
 
Will it be Free 2 Play for ever? I've already got it but it's good to know for future refference.
