Game history today Eve online protest

Massive Eve online protest today over a leaked document of greed and the release of a cash shop in game. Over 3,000 players attacking Jita system memorial building.

Eve online has a player run economy the fear of a cash shop selling Ammunition, Skills And ships out of thin air purchased with cash would ruin the game completely and give cash shop users advantages over players who dont (TF2 anyone?).

Seeing how its one LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG video. Could you sum up what happened to the memorial?
Did they blow it up (can you blow it up)?
Did they just shut down the server?
Did they just respawn it?

Trying to read a bit on the situation. From my understanding it was leaked information that the game was going to add a pay(real money) shop (might of already been there) where you can buy with real money "pay2win" weapons/ships/skills.

But from reading it the information. But it is all on speculation. But the Devs have yet to address the problem/ questions so... The gamers are taking it as truth?

Crazy. But a cash shop would absolutely kill the game, so the protesters are right. Maybe CCP was going to start the road to making EVE Online free starting with a cash shop, just like TF2 did. The problem with that is that EVE Online for free would never work because the only reason they would make money is because of PLEX and the only reason people buy PLEX is to sell for ISK and the only reason people get PLEX for ISK is so that they can play longer. Or, now, to get vanity items.

I thought they were protesting in RL, not in a game. I dont think protesting in a game will very much influnce the people at EVE online imo.

The document that was released had signatures and such saying that this was going to be the most likely path by the top devs. As a former industrialist ingame, that would have crippled me if they did implement this and I would have wasted literally years of the game training skills that would no longer work.

Have you played eve? Players have a HUGE impact on what happens. They even have an offical "council" of players that get elected so that the devs can be more in tune with the players.
