Did TF2 becoming free to play affect how much you play it?

I bought it maybe 2 years ago and played it for a while but I didn't like it so much and stopped playing and still not interested in it.

So I bought the orange box and DIDN'T play TF2 for THREE YEARS because I thought I had to pay a subscription fee.

Have been playing it since I found out I didn't have to pay for it again XD

My reasoning was simple most of our current maps are not my style of play.
I love attack defend maps and always seemed to hit valve right as they left dustbowl/goldrush/steel etc and end up at granary or one of those.

Plus most of the time the servers are full now so it is more fun that playing with 3 other people on a 32 man server.

Yeah, as said before. Missing the option that I was playing it all the time and now that it's free to play I play it a lot less. Very frustrating with all the new people that don't know how to play and makes games very boring when you steamroll a team or get steamrolled. I try and give tips and pointers to people who are obviously new, but many don't care and would rather play sniper even though we already have 5 of them and we're on offense..... They have no idea about class balance or how to play their classes. Over time it will balance out again, but right now isn't a good time to be playing if you're a veteran, unless you have the patience of Job.
