There are several restrictions as to how much of the game you have access to, but there is no 14 day trial for the game anymore. Now a player has unlimited play time up to level level 20.

The first expansion to World of Warcraft, Burning Crusade, is also now free. If you buy World of Warcraft, your account is now automatically upgraded to include Burning Crusade. People who already own WoW have been automatically upgraded as well.

You dont HAVE to, but the horde guild is much more active then the alliance side atm
