Going to be Gone Reminder

I've been seeing a lot more going to be gone threads lately in the past few weeks. Please be sure to read the below, and remember, this information is actually in the Information Center under the General Forum (near the top of the forum).

I saw something great today.

Instead of posting a thread in the forum saying that they were going to be gone for two weeks to visit their Great Aunt Ermagarde one of our members put an appendix on their signature saying that they were going to be gone and returning at such and such a date.

This is great. Anyone who looks at their posts or their public profile page can see where they're at. Also, they didn't clutter up the forums with threads that will just scroll off to the next page in two days time leaving people to wonder where they have gone.

When they get back from their sabbatical they'll remove the extra line of text from their signature and no muss no fuss life goes on.

What a great idea!

I am starting to wonder if maybe that stickied thread (which I have linked to more than once) should be moved to the general forum section. It might help!
