I game late at night. Constantly. On my bright screen and I already get headaches alot from a recent head injury. How do I get rid of these headaches/prevent them? They really freaking suck (I have one right now)

F.lux is the program you want. http://stereopsis.com/flux/

This will look absolutely dumb at first, turning everything a sepia color at night, but it is AMAZING and makes it unbelievably easier to work late at night. I change the brightness when I game (disable it for normal color effects and all), but Fl.ux is a huge help. LCD screens are incredibly bright and hurt your eyes very easily late at night in particular.

With this in mind, I'm not a doctor...please consult a medical professional if the problem persists.

Head injury - Are you sure it's not just from that?

I've had a concussion before and know what it's like, could be just that the screen irritates you due to the concussion. If your injury was a concussion give it some time.

Drink water.

Most headaches result from dehydration. Eye strain doesn't help.

Like jeod said, turn the brightness on your monitor down to zero. Reduce the amount of spot lights around your monitor (e.g. desk lamps).

Or quite simply... sleep at night. Most kids don't realise how important sleep is. Not getting enough is where problems start and comes back to bite you later on in life.

Its not from that. That was years ago, and I almost died.
Slid down a banister, fell at the top of the railing, fell and landed on my head at the bottom on the wood floor. Knocked myself out... im all good now though.

Awesome I love you! ^_^
I will TOTALLY give that a try.
I am up until like 2, with very little light, and I dont want to buy one of those GAMING GLASSES for $150 even though they are just yellow plastic. This looks awesome, thank you so much

EDIT: So I installed it and have been using it all night. Its amazing! It works so well and the transition is gradual to the point where you dont notice it, until you turn it off! I havent even gotten the hint of a headache! Thank you SO MUCH!

Well we're all glad you didnt die! For me, I only get headaches from eye strain, or not eating. The only other way is when I'm inside with the drumline, but earplugs take care of that. Looks like a bunch of good advice above me.

Yeah, I get sleep though. I stay up usually til about Midnight, sometimes as late as 3am but I sleep REAL late. Thanks for the help everyone :D

Thanks for posting this jeod, browsing the forums late at night just became 100% more easier. :)

Yeah, I use f.lux and if I have the lights off in my room I turn my monitor all the way down (even during the day I only have it at 50% brightness, although that's partially because our house is never very bright so it's pretty easy to see anyway)

Good stuff for every PC user to know to avoid burning his eyeballs out. Although I always recommend actually sleeping as the best solution, I have been known to get so into games that my eyes get really tired and I have to play with sunglasses on at night.

You wish you were as hardcore as me.

No comments lance...
And to Levharius... I used to game lights on, like... the entire room, not just a spot. Until I started using this Flux thing, now there is no point for lights.
