so my birthday is coming and my girlfreind ask what i wanted.. so i replyed saying. "hun i want to get another pc" she said "sure your bugdet is $2000" so i am needing a new pc any ways since i am going into Law and needing mass amount of Data storge. so this is what i came up with " i also would game " but not to much.

the reason why i did 5 hdd is because i need tow more for the computers at home so really there are going to be 3 going into the build it self. o i also have an OS and the dvd/cd burner.

I would consider running two of those drives in a Raid 1 for redundancy.

I don't have any experience with those PSU's, but have always trusted Corsair. I put a AX 850 in my latest build. I also have no experience with that case, but would imagine you may want to add some dust filters -- it looks like a dust magnet. With your budget I would consider the Corsair 650D (just built mine around this), the Fractal R3, or the Silverstone FT02. I would also recommend using an aftermarket cooler. Best Buy was blowing out H50's for $50 yesterday. You will love that GPU -- I just put two of their 6950 DirectCU II's in my build (on an Asus P8Z68-V Pro). Really quiet and cool cards.

Should be a great build.

I really liked your first build? I reminded me a lot of the one you recommended for the similar "budget" build in the other thread. Also, you might want to look at the nzxt m59. It would save you a little and is one of the best cases you can get!

In all seriousness, I would go for a 750w power supply with the crossfire 6950s. A 650w would be the bare minimum, but to be on the safe side and with any overclocking, higher wattage would be preferred. Newegg has a deal on the seasonic x750 right now for $130 till 7/18; not sure how soon you are looking to buy:

Also, if you are rarely going to game, why are you even getting 2 6950s? Why not stick with the 6970 and get a better ssd, case, and power supply instead?

^^ With that motherboard, one of your video cards is hindered basically making the two a 6970 (only 1 PCI E 2.0 x 16). Getting a nice ssd and overclocking a single 6970 would be a good move.

Many questions to be asked... lol. Anywho, to each his own. You're going to need a 750 watt probably because my 460's take about 120watt ea, add the CPU and hdd's and dvd drives etc, gonna be dangerously close to 650watts since ATI are power and heat hungry. Go for a 750watt especially if you want to overclock your CPU and cards. You're going to need an aftermarket CPU heatsink for your i5 cus it's most likely gonna run hot. CM v8's are 50 bucks now. Look into it.

The fact that they will both run at x8 is not a huge problem as there really will not be a huge performance hit over both at x16. hardocp did a review on this. This is a limitation of sandy architecture, though there are some boards that use a NF200 to increase the amount of PCI-E lanes. Here is a comparison of p67 boards to show the difference between x16/x16 vs x8/x8:

But yea, I still think my suggested route would be a better to maximize the value and quality of the computer.

for the heat sink really im useing the hyper 212. its at my house laying around doing nothing. but i did like the COOLER MASTER Hyper N. that was a beast for a good price. in the long run i will end up adding 3 more hdd to this build.. case files take alot of memory the biggest one i have atm is well over 50gb. and the normal size file would be 1-2gb large..... its a pain in the ass.

u are treading in deep water... don't forget i still have last night conversation and my safe best bet is for u not to be posting on this thread i have made. are clear... end of discussion.

now all im asking I AM NOT INTENDEING TO BE GAMING just slight gaming not really at all more of the lines of needing a work computer. for mass media and files. i will do some gaming on the side. i

I don't know what's going on here, but you don't need a 1500 dollar computer to do some "slight gaming". But it's your money and you can do whatever the hell you want with it :)

basic point its a $2000 build my gale is buying me. really there is not point going to $2000 if u add alot of HDD and a bigger ssd. the way i want to is just have it for work and play high end games when i am on my break. this is what i figured to do. ill probley get a 150gb ssd load my Games and OS on to it. then get more HDD probably 2 more. so i would have 5 in the build and 7 in the cart. there for i would have 7tb of hdd space to burn threw in the next couple of months. due to the fact the Average document size I get is between 5-50gb. o did like the Hyper N. Damn it must be a sweet thing to have i will most likely get it and just put the hyper 212 in the computer i am using atm. and just to c how much i can OC a 955 to its max for shits and giggles.

I have to seriously, seriously, recommend against Samsung. The systems department at my university avoid Western Digital and Samsung hard drives because their fail rates are noticeably higher than other brands. I also have some personal experience to back this up (samsung hard drives failing after 1 year of use) over the past couple of decades.

If I were you, I'd ditch the SSD hard drive and put more money into an i7-2600k and one of those out-of-box water cooling systems from Corsair (H60 price is similar to a big overclocking heatsink). I've got mine running stably overclocked to 4.5 with the help of this guide: . http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overclocking/39184-p67-sandy-bridge-overclocking-guide-beginners.html

The price/performance of SSD hard drives is pretty bad, and they're not totally reliable, even the Intel ones (10% of user reviews state hard drive death). SSD hard drives have a bottle neck with the SATA controller and are an emergent tech IMO, which is why they're really expensive at this point; if you were going enthusiast I'd suggest those ripdrives but their price/performance is even worse.

If not the SSD hard drive then I really recommend making savings somewhere to switch to an I7.

You might also want to buy some extra fans if the manufacture doesn't given you enough fans to cover all fan openings. I think cooler master has a 4-1 value pack.

TLDR: (1) Avoid Samsung, it's a bad brand. (2) Try to save money on some parts and get yourself an i7 and overclock it. (3) You may need extra fans for your case.

umm....ummm.... xe3ll0s no just no *facepalm*. i am not going to fight this 1 there is no point for me and others to fight this one. ill just put it this way. NO!

I'm interested to know what part of my post you disagree with. Samsung's reliability, price/performance of SSD hard drives, benefit of an i7, extra fans ...?

EDIT: ddily, that seemed a little rude given that I wasn't trying to troll or flame you, and I was giving you my honest opinion.

Benefits of an i7 over the the i5 is almost non existent unless you need the extra threads. Does he need the extra threads? Most likely not.

An out of the box water cooler will provide little benefit over a traditional air cooler. Only a custom water cooling system would have a noticeable reduction in temps over air.

SSDs are the single greatest upgrade one can make to their system given the huge bottleneck in mechanical hard drives. Those who do not have ssds or cannot afford them will likely blow them off as a luxury. But it truly is night and day going between a system with one and one without.

As far as samsungs reliability, I cannot personally vouch for them. However, the spinpoint has been one of the most recommended hard drives as far as price to size and performance goes. I am sure such a large fail rate as you have mentioned would be recognized and that recommendation would not remain if this were the case though.

Finally, ddily, not sure why you had to edit that comment out. Just laugh it off man. You truly cannot see the humor in comparing your first build to the one you so aggressively argued against that I had posted before? It's all good though. I am still willing to give you my opinion in good faith.

the hyper 212 can score better then a corsair lwater cooling system in terms of temps. the only thing they run silently. and the pipes get too heated and stressd will warp and resulting of spilling coolant in to the computer. and i would never go i7 really no point pay more for the 1 i put in the build. and the case that case is the best man my brother has it and every time one of his papers get on the flour the intake fan infront of the case sucks it up ill post a vid later to prove it. and its really not that noisy either. the build i posted along with the Hyper N it would be a heck of a comp for working and or gaming. i would change mobo but there is really no point to crossfire dual 6970.

yea and im still willing holding over the law suite over your head. LOL jk na we striaght. u just hurt me a lot last night

The law suite over my head? Not sure what that quite refers to :P

Hurting you was not my intention my good man. If that was a result of the discussion though, I do apologize.

As far as the i7 being a fake, I would not really call it that. While it does not have 8 cores but simply simulates 8, it still does serve its purpose for a select group of people who can take advantage of that considering ivy is not coming till Q1 2012 or later. It is truly the best cpu since its release. For the majority of people though, the additional threads just does not serve a purpose so saving $100 is a no brainer as in your case. :)

yea untill bulldozer comes out really but they keep changing the dates supposivly. AMD said it would come out in early fall of this year. by then i would have mad enough money to make a home gaming computer.
