Another option for the case would be the corsair 650d. Very elegant with great internals for easy installation.

One downside of that cooler are the small fans. I would go with the new Scythe Mugen 3 which is a smaller version of the old Mugen 2 with very similar performance. This is said to be a better cooler for sandy bridge over the 212+ which would be the cooler I would get over the hyper n. Mugen 3 is only a couple more than the cooler you currently have listed.

Any reason for one of the most expensive boards considering it is definitely geared for multi gpu setups?

Power supply, again, I would look at a quality one like the x750 which is the best you can get. Splurging a little here makes more sense to me then on the motherboard.

Ram, why the downgrade to 1333:

Same timings and voltage yet 1600 and $5 cheaper would be my choice atm ;)

And of course, any reason for the sapphire over the xfx which is currently cheaper and of course has a much better warranty?

Is there any reason you are going with the Maximus IV motherboard? There is absolutely no reason to go with that board unless you are planning triple sli/crossfire.

For dual cards, 8x/8x is plenty of bandwidth right now. The difference between 16x/16x and 8x/8x sli/cf is a frame or two and even then only in some games. Hardocp.com has done several review showing this.

Your money would be better spent elsewhere. Have you considered getting a nice IPS monitor? Drop back to that P8P67 or a P8Z68.

I also liked that DirectCU II GPU better -- it's a really nice quiet alternative to the reference chips. The Twin Frozr's aren't bad either if you want a dual slot option.

Yea. That motherboard is overkill. Spend somewhere around $200 for a decent dual SLI/crossfire board, and be done with it. Buying that board without the intention of going 3-way SLI/crossfire is a waste, IMO. Try this board. It doesn't look as cool (do you really care about how it looks?) but it will get the job done easily.

I'm also for going with the Twin Frozr video cards. Here's the Twin Frozr version of your video card.

Actually, that's the lightening, it's more expensive, and it's out of stock. Yuck. Guess you'll be better off with your current selection.

i totally agree. extreme overclocking board + slight overclocking cooler = doesn't make sense. i would get like a silver arrow with that board just to make use of the heavy overclocking feature. and that case is so cheaply made for that price. i suggest getting a corsair case or a lian li for that price.

k thx for the suggestions. im not going with that mobo anyways. jus posted it to c what your alls thought were on it. tweaking the build a bit more.

If you are going to spend an extra $160 on a motherboard you should probably up it to the i7 2600k as well :) That will at least give you something real performance wise on occasion.

Just out of curiosity, why in the world would you need 5 tb LOL OMG, I cant even fill up my 1 tb. Also, I suggest corsair ax series for PSU. Clean power.

5TB really isn't that much if you do any type of video work. I record OTA HD in WMC and it's easly 10GB/hr uncompressed. I have well over 1TB of Steam games as well :D

k im going to state this again. i am an attorney. i go through 6gb a day in legal document. the range for my document size is 6-50gb. yes 50gb due to media files as well. no i wont go with the i7 because its really an i5 but with some more threading.

I would recomend with your budget to consider a SSD for the system drive instead of 2 tradional HD's in RAID. Especially with the Vertex 3 by OCZ.

He has an ssd in there, last item in the pic.

Again, for the PSU, I would bump it up to the AX or atleast the HX series by Corsair. Save you money in the future as well being more efficient :P

Yes, I would agree with huck. Get an AX corsair or seasonic, both are top of the line PSU IMO. Also, for that motherboard, there's alot of recalls in newegg about it, so to play it safe I'd get the deluxe.

For the case, I have a haf 932, and its beast. Super quiet excellent airflow. I dont think that antec 1200 would be as quiet because it has a ton of smaller fans.

I was looking at the CM storm sniper, or Corsair 650d. Both are really nice, and of course mines, Haf 932 you should take into consideration.

^ great suggestions. Antec 1200 is older, loud and I would prefer to have side facing hard drives. It does look pretty cool though, I will give it that. I do think the Haf would be a better choice given it is newer certainly giving it numerous advantages over the 1200. As I had said before and as headshot said, 650d is a sleek new case from corsair that is the mid tower version of the more expensive full tower 700/800d cases. However, you do seem to like the led case fans, though given your budget, you could always upgrade the fans to some bling bling ones.

yea im might do that. i want neon lights or glow in the dark style. so when i turn the light off in my office my associates will come in and go WTF?!?!?!? the type of case im looking for is that i want to slide the HDD in and out with ease. have a huge window and have just a freaking light show going off in the case. still with wire management and good air flow threw out the case. o and i hate my psu to be on the top. idk y. but i hate it to be on the top

Yea. I agree on the power supply. You want a nice one that's modular and rated at 80 plus Silver or Gold. The Corsair AX, HX, or the Seasonic Gold are your best bet. Choose one of them and be happy.

Consider this case too:

NZXT Phantom - Black

Great alternative to the bland boxes that are the Antec 1200 and HAF 932. ;)
