Recruiting is a big part of eGO, right? I understand that, and I want to help. But there's always a problem. I try to add people on steam, and then ask them if they would like to join, but they just think I'm a creeper, and they never respond. It becomes a real pain. After that I resort to typing in say chat. People always think I'm binding it. I'm not. I had 5 people adding me on steam within a 10 minute period by doing it this way. But if I do it this way, everyone else starts getting on to me because I'm using "binds". This always turns me off, and I just end up getting frustrated and I head on over to jail. I really do not see an efficient way to recruit. I really do not understand how others recruit so well. Is there a better way to it? Are there some official rules I just haven't seen yet? What is the best and most efficient way to recruit? Thanks ahead of time.

Well, the best way is to add the person, if he doesnt add you in time, ask him once in-game and if he says no move on... thats it... you just got to keep trying to recruit

it helps if you talk to them first, get friendly with them then add them on steam and ask if they would like to join eGO.

As Scion said, the most effective way is to add them to Steam. Try to get a conversation started in Steam chat. Asking blindly in game chat if someone would like to join eGO not only invites trolls to thwart your recruiting efforts, but it also looks a bit desperate. If you are interested in becoming a CS:S Recruiter you should come to our drives. To sign up just go here.

My strategy:

1) See who looks like a potential good member and possibly admin.
2) Add them on Steam // Usually if I pass this part 70% of the time, I manage to get the recruit to join.
3) If they accept you, ask them to join FORMALLY. I can't tell you how I ask because it's top secret recipe, like KFC recipe. :D - In all seriousness, just don't sound like you're not even putting effort into asking them. Like "Hey dude, wanna join ego?" <-- Terrible way to ask.
4) If they say yes, I give them the link that tells them how to register. If no, then I tell them "Alright, sorry to bother you. If you ever change your mind, please visit edgegamers.org and register. I'd be glad to help you if you do change your mind. Good luck"
5) If they say yes, then help them with the process, ESPECIALLY MAUL!!! <-- I cannot believe how many recruiters let their recruits do the application without MAUL and helping them through it. It's easy, just tell them to go in game with you, type status, give it to them, and tell them to put it in "My Game IDs" on MAUL.
6) Help them with the application. 7/10 recruits will NOT know what "division" their joining. So tell them "You're joining CS:S, it will be your main home. So just put CS:S"

I dislike people who go in game and put "Anyone interested in joining eGO?" because it makes them sound desperate and most of the time, no one responds. I prefer picking out potential members and guide them through the process. Overall, it's not that hard. Just don't let a few recruits let you down, if they don't want to join, MOVE ON.

That's it, good luck! :)

This is good.

But don't bug the person about it in game in our servers. They will leave for being annoyed.
