The exact way I feel which is why I am now considering not purchasing the game on PC. I may just go ahead and purchase it for my Xbox 360,and put off playing it until I am not playing Skyrim 24/7 lol.

i have a love hate relationship i kinda miss the good old days hwen u just buy and download ur games with activation codes, none of these crazy programs, but steam i love it....i dont have to worry about losing my activation codes, IMO its better than xbox live on the console at friend mangment and games and stuff, and u also cant beat lower prices. but other companies see this and wish to imitate, in the long run i hope they just cant hold up to steam and give up or at least make it good enough to compete but at the same time haveing that system for ONLy ea games is a bit of a hassle why cant they just have a buy service like d2d but for their own games? instead of trying to be like steam. maybe they can work something out and let them sync steam accounts and orgin accounts? for ease of use
Same here. Steam never appealed to me until I lost the activation code to GTA.

An inconvenience how exactly? Buy BF3 via Origin (physical or digital, whatever works for you), install, Add non-steam game, click the Battlefield 3 icon, done. Now every single friend will see you have Battlefield 3. Plus, you don't have to Origin open to play the game. I currently have Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on Origin and I haven't opened it since I first installed it.

I haven't touched Origin and hoped not to, so I guess I didn't understand how it works. If that's true...then it won't be an issue. I was under the impression that it acted as a sort of DRM. Well that's slightly uplifting news.
EA can take their bad new digital distribution system and shove it. I won't be purchasing BF3 until it is five bucks years down the line if they aren't going to put it on steam. If you don't like what they are doing speak with your wallet. I will have Skyrim and Saints Row 3 too entertain me in the mean time, I won't miss one extra game.

I'm pretty sure EA can do well with or without your 60 dollars, you're just hurting yourself. Just because we're going to have to open the game through a different program doesn't mean the game is going to be a fluke. Battlefield is battelfield. Idc if BF3 runs off of Facebook like farmville I'll still play the game.

Just because you're favorite car doesn't come in a color you want, you don't buy it? If you're a fan of Battlefield, regardless of the developers or associated companies problems, buy it. It shouldn't really matter.
If you're worried about communication with friends, or stat comparison, I'm sure Origin has that. Not to mention you could add-non steam games as someone stated above (As long as it's supported). On top of that you have Raptr and Xfire you could use. VENT!
If you're worried about resources. If you're actually capable of running BF3 at decent settings, you should have a decent enough rig to not worry about a 20mb program. The Phenom X4/X6 and soon bulldozer CPU's as well as the i5/i7's should be able to multitask just fine.
If you're worried that because it's not on steam, you have to go out and buy a hard copy, EA has a download manager, which is not that hard to use, and I'm sure Origin has the same. I live in a small town that is 15 miles from a bigger town. My town doesn't have a store that would carry such things as even 360 games. Steam is very handy, but if I have to DL by other means, it's not that big of a deal.
Reading this thread makes me look back when CoD: MW2 came out. When everyone found out that they took away server support and console so everyone canceled their pre-order. Is everyone back at that level? Just because it's not on Steam?

I agree with you 100% of the way. Btw, EA download manager is now also Origin. You can buy games from origin as well.
I got a better idea, you could buy a used copy MW2 for $20 and burn $40. That'd be a better investment, seeing as their both on the same engine and buying a used copy doesn't give money to Craptivision.

That is awful Logic. Just get Orgin or go to a Gamestop....
Orgin isnt that bad... The only problem i have with it is that its only EA games. That is why i love steam, the support the Indie community as well as AAA titles.

It doesn't make that much of a difference. I don't understand all this hate on Origin.
Does it really matter what digital distribution service you use? I'm still going to end up playing Battlefield 3. And that's all I care about.
